Speroni Landmark vs Watford

lundi 11 décembre 2017

So, let's face it, we are all currently still trying to understand/digest/contain anger over the penalty from Saturday. But I wanted to take this time to look away from that for a moment at a big positive. On Saturday, Wilf reached his 250th league appearance for us and to be honest, I did not realise until I was at Selhurst and saw it on social media. That is a great achievement in this day and age. Now with Watford looming tomorrow, we stand on the cusp of another huge landmark. Julian Speroni already holds the record for most appearances by a Goalkeeper at Palace. Tomorrow however, if he plays, he will be making his 400th appearance in a Palace shirt. Now that is an incredible achievement. He is also one clean sheet(yes, those rare things) away from two new records. One is the most league clean sheets by any palace keeper of 100, and the other is levelling most clean sheets for the club in total of 111. Yes there are arguments about quality these days and we need a new keeper etc. But for tomorrow that should be put aside and if Jules starts, which I feel he should, the club legend deserves a huge ovation for his big 400.
