"C-P-F-C", the dirge with the drum for the first 10 minutes - what a downer

jeudi 28 décembre 2017

Am I alone in finding the relentless, tuneless drum-bashing dirge of our opening 10 minutes' tonight (Arsenal game) of entrail-wringing boredom of a so-called "chant" based upon the fact that our club's initials are C-P-F-C, and of which the lyrics are "C-P-F-C" repeated endlessly until in a state of advanced zomboid coma, hardly brings the opening moments of a London Derby to an exciting opening?

It is rather like suggesting that a love-locked couple have Mendellsohn's Funeral March played at their wedding - for about 3 hours non-stop, with banging drum accompaniment.

How the so-called Fanatics get away with monopolising SP with their boring, dreary, tuneless, senseless droning is beyond me.

The only time anyone seems to express any joy at supporting the Palace at SP is when we score and we hardly need the Fanatics to remind us that we have scroed a goal, nor that it was not thanks to 23 minutes of non-stop, drum-accompanied "SE25" or "CPFC" Zombie atonement which inspired the team.

When you go away to support the Palace and are free of the tyranny of the Fanatics and their boring drum and mindless Zombie dirges, you realise how exciting the players must find it hearing the fans urge them on to do us proud - and recently that's exactly what they did.

Tragically, the Fanatics and their ghatsly drum made an appearance at Swansea but at half time it was removed to some far-flung toilet or other so most of us could get back to genuine singing and chanting and supporting the team.
