Support bands that rocked

dimanche 11 décembre 2016

Support bands can often be variable in quality, but a few have nearly surpassed the headliner for gigs that I've seen.

1985, Meatloaf was supported by Terraplane at the Hammersmith Odeon (now the Apollo). My goodness Terraplane really rocked. I was nearly disappointed when ol' Meaty took to the stage. A few years later they re-named themselves 'Thunder' and they did really well.

Fleetwood Mac were supported by River City People in 1990 at Wemberlee stadium.
They were fantastic, but sadly after their first album, seemed to have slipped into oblivion.

More recently , (can't remember the year) I went to see Ladysmith Black Mambazo at the South Bank Centre.
Vusi Mahlasela was supporting, and although LSBM were great, Vusi stole the show.

Please regale me with your live music stories.:)
