Hennessey 6 No chance with goals. I've probably missed something that some can blame him for though
Kelly 5 Limited player, but didn't let us down although equaliser from his side
Delaney 6 Fine
Dann 6 Ok but not England quality
Ward 6 Didn't get forward but I assume that was tactical.
Jedinak 5 He gets 4 for his first half showing, but improved when deeper in 2nd half
Cabaye 3 He doesn't look fully fit to me. All over the place. We need him deeper IMHO
Mutch 6 An ok performance from an average player
Bolasie 6 Worked well, but didn't create too much. Good to see him get pitch time
Wickham 9 MOM not just the 2 goals, he was our best player in the first half.
Zaha 7 Bright and must have covered more ground than anyone else on the pitch. Constantly fouled, and no protection again.
Subs:
Ledley 6 Did a decent job
Sako 5 Didn't get into the game but good to see him back
Adebayor 5 Not enough time to make an impact
Pardew somehow managed to get his tactics wrong again, despite picking the best XI imho.
FIRST HALF
The central midfielders were pushed up the pitch 20 yards more than they should have been. That left the central defenders exposed, as there was a huge pocket of space in front of them and so Sunderland were able to get shots off at will. Cabaye is obviously carrying an injury, and so having Jedinak in there on his own virtually was a recipe for disaster - he couldn't cope with the pace of their players and as soon as they passed it round the corner he was out of the game and they were bearing down on our back 4.
SECOND HALF
Midfield was much tighter and more restrained. Mutch playing next to Jedinak helped him, and they were boosted further when Cabaye went off. Excellent goal from Wickham and then another poacher's finish in the box. Works hard, and his confidence must be sky high at the minute. Glenn Murray (legend though he is) is not fit to clean his boots, so at least we can bury that argument now. Undone by a fluke or world class goal - take your pick. I personally don't think many keepers would have saved that, but sure some will give him criticism for it. Great to see Sako get 20 mins and Bolasie 70. We will need them because the run in March looks horrendous and we badly needed a win today. Still, at least the improved 2nd half performance shows that AP can correct his errors and means most of us won't be calling for his head. Sunderland are not a bad side, and a point in our situation is not a disaster away from home. Bloody worried abut our centre mid though.
