There's a lot of threads full of complaints, and I like a good moan as much as anyone. So I thought I'd share some recent positives from the Palace experience, and invite others to do the same.
There's an old man (90+) called Les who comes to most home games, and the steward who looks after that area is great with him, making sure he's got a seat on the end of a row and coming to fetch and help him down the stairs when he leaves on 75-80 minutes.
His mind is sharp as a tack but he can barely move, so he has to leave early to get a head start on the crowds. He was absolutely loving it on Saturday when we were 4-1 up and he could go home (fairly) safe in the knowledge we were going to win. You get the impression he can't believe his luck that he's seeing a Palace team as good as this one.
The Palace matchday staff members in suits are also great with him, bringing him a cup of tea at half-time and a blanket before the game on Saturday.
The steward went one further on Saturday, paying special attention to my girlfriend's 5-year-old sister. She also got a blanket, he sat down and had a chat with her and also gave her one of the 'Eaglet' kids programmes for free. Just after half-time, he brought Pete and Alice up to have pictures taken with all the kids in the block. At her age she still doesn't really understand what's happening on the field, except when a goal goes in, so all the off-field stuff like the Crystals, Kayla, Pete & Alice, and friendly stewards make all the difference.
