Board interference - a good thing?

jeudi 22 janvier 2015

Something that occurred to me, after the much publicised accusations that were circulating in the aftermath of Pulis' departure. The suggestion was that Parish was interfering in transfer decisions by TP. But if we look at the types of players that have typically come to the club since CPFC2010 came in: Ward, Jedinak, Dann, Hennessey, Puncheon, Ledley, McArthur... etc. There are several things they have in common: they are approaching their prime footballing age, they have something to prove, a good work ethic and a potentially good sell on value. I recall Dougie giving interviews in his early days that pretty much echoed these ideas about the right characters, hungry, good attitude etc. These stipulations appear to be put in place to ensure the best possible outcome for the club (well of course!). My question is, IF the board are interfering in this manner (and I'm not saying they are) by placing certain criteria on the types of players that the manager is able to sign, is this a good thing for the club?

Personally I think generally yes, but there will always be an exception or two.
