It's Sunday 14 December, eleven days away from Christmas.
Crystal Palace are currently 16th in the Premier League, our highest position within the British football pyramid at this stage of the season for 17 years.
We're competitive week in, week out in the top flight. We've beaten some of the country's biggest clubs this season. We have players like Jedi and Bolasie and Ward, who would walk into most Palace sides of the last 20 years, approaching the peak of their game.
Our two biggest rivals are languishing at the foot of the Championship. Those clowns who so desperately want to be our rivals are established as the boring mid-table tier two club we always knew them to be.
And yet the BBS is as full of doom and gloom as it's ever been.
Sack the manager, hound the board, hang the DJ. Send Wilf back to Manure, send Campbell back to Cardiff, send Kelly anywhere but here. Spend all our money as quickly as possible because look how that's working out for Hull and Leicester and QPR. Panic on the streets of Norwood. Dulwich, Croydon, Riverside.
I do not get it.
So here's a question. How do we, as a set of fans, turn this around? When did our hopes of building upon last season's freak 11th place finish turn into expectations for so many? Progress in football takes years, not months. The likelihood is we will never be a top ten Premier League side. What, then, can Warnock and the players do in 2015 to keep our increasingly demanding fanbase happy?
