I raised this issue on Palace Radio last night, before the game; and the match just continued the trend. It's a depressing sequence of goals conceded reaching back to the tail end of last season:
Man City - 2
Liverpool - 3
Fulham - 2
Arsenal - 2
West Ham - 3
Newcastle - 3
Burnley - 0
Everton - 2
Leicester 0
Hull - 2
Chelsea - 2
WBA - 2
Sunderland - 3
So if you take out the two games at home to promoted clubs, we have had 11 games in which we have never failed to concede at least two goals . This isn't a criticism of the current manager, since the run extends back to the time of Pulis. But I find it a bit worrying. If we are going to concede at least two goals every match, we won't get anywhere. It's the worst defensive consistency that I can recall for some years.
The media used to talk about us using words like "resolute" and "well organised", so why are we letting in two goals a game? Is it that the defence has been disturbed by injury/suspension etc? Or are some of the defenders not as good individually as was being suggested?
