Clean sheets worth double scoring and also conceding

mardi 4 novembre 2014

To some extent I think the fans and the club got carried away in the summer thinking we are better than what we are, we need to get back to the aim of keeping a clean sheet every match, if we dont score we dont score.

Last night under Pulis it would have been dull but that scrappy o.g would have won us the game

Pulis always used to say you need to attack from a solid base and that was spot on.

To highlight the importance of a clean sheet to a team like us ( im a big fan of stats)

Last season when we kept a clean sheet we won 10 drew 2 and obviously lost 0 = 2.66 points a game which would have won us the league by 15 points!

When we scored but also conceded last season we won 2, drew 4 and lost 3 = 1.11 points per game.

Statically from years of premiership data has told you average twice as many points keeping a clean sheet than you so when you score but also concede

To sum up is totally not worth being more attacking if it means conceding more goals, the stats from years of data published in many plus and results last season show that up
