A thought for the players

mardi 4 novembre 2014

So much noise about the board, about Warnock, the HF, Josh Harris, the PA announcer, referees - the list goes on and this place seems to be rancid with resignation that we are doomed. Consigned to relegation and returning to the grind of the Championship, because everyone on here has picked apart the way the club is setup and run and doesn't like it.

Look at those players. Remember how it was after the Leicester game. Since May, they've had to hear about the 'Pulis effect', the man who single handily kept us up, the man who won us the points we needed. Yet these guys actually went onto the pitch and delivered. Not only did they do that, they did that after be slagged off for three months by the media and most football followers around the world. Yet we're so quick to abandon them now, casting aside their abilities and strengths. No doubt, Pulis had a huge impact, I'm not doubting that, I'm simply saying that his impact was actioned and put into practice by those players.

I actually find it pretty sickening the way people are talking on here now. Look at what we've done over the last four years. Look at the times we were on our knees and proved everyone wrong (including our own fans):

- administration, docked points > survived

- relegation favourties > top of the table by winter

- fan favourite leaves for Bolton > we continue winning

- terrible run up to the play offs, Murray injured > promoted

- awful opening 3 months to 13/14 Premier League campaign > survival, finishing 11th

- Pulis leaves 2 days before the start of the season > players keep it together and earn some decent points, putting in some brave performances

We should be uniting behind the players, I expect most of us will. They deserve a bit of trust and a bit of luck, all it takes is some decisions and a result, that'll change the mindset.

Do you think those players are capable? I think they are. Of course the manager has an impact, but I honestly think that if we give up on the manager or the current situation, they may do too. Regardless of who is in charge, they can do it, they can get us to 40 points - we can't let this season pass us by and become a formality. We have a huge shot to keep ourselves in this league for the long term, if we can dig in. We can score goals, we know we have players who are able to defend as a unit, I have faith it can come good again.
