The CPFC Foundation Adult Mental health Football Team, the Croydon Eagles, had their first taste of the Surrey Community League at the Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Centre on Friday 5th September. This league has come about from the strong partnership between the Surrey FA and local charities working within the Mental Health Community.
The Eagles ran out winners in the round robin 5 team tournament, notching up 3 victories and a draw against teams from Kingston, Woking, Leacroft and East Surrey.
The Croydon Eagles have developed weekly with football training sessions ran in the CPFC Academy Dome, Wednesday at 3.30pm. This session is designed for men and women who have experienced mental health issues to help enable them to get the benefits, both physically and socially, of our great sport. Football and other physical activities are crucial in helping people who have had mental health issues keep fit, feel a part of a team/squad, and provide a social environment with likeminded people.
