Car Insurance help, no claims bonus

jeudi 31 août 2023

Just my luck. An accident, not my faultz and now insurance due.

A car went into back of mine and the driver was at fault which they acknowledged and it is going through my insurance with them at fault.

Will this affect my no claims?

Thanks

Nationwide Football Annual 2023-24

Anyone like me, been trying to get the Nationwide Football Annual for this season?. Usually comes out at the start of the season, looks like it may be finished just like the Playfair one did around 2013.
I suppose details can be found on the internet, or the Rothmans type one which is available. It seems a shame as it has been going in different titles Athletic News, News of the World etc since the 1880s. I have every copy since 1945.

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 3* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 7 or more, then a 4th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after.

Man U Away Choice

We are playing Man U away twice at the end of September. In the Carabao Cup and the League. If you had the choice , which would you rather win ?

Discussion: Which striker would you prefer?

We've been linked with these guys, who'd you prefer?

EDIT: Ignore. Meant to include poll.

Transfer window closes soon. Are you happy?

Wilf: gone
Luka: gone
JMac: gone
Guaita: throwing a strop

Lerma: IN
Franca: IN

Wasn’t sure whether this was GPD or Transfer Hotline, but after a little deliberation plumped for the former in order to avoid the wrath of TAK, our overly officious and longest serving mod - this could have ended up either closed as a thread or in Chit Chat Gold within 30 mins.

So, transfer window closes in 2 days at the time of writing. All essential transfers done as they would need a proper pre season and we are already 3 games into the new season. Most previous windows also show we do our best business in the first half of the window in any case. Are you happy?

Let’s look at the positives. Olise is staying for another season, and Doucoure, Guehi, Andersen and Eze are still here too. Lerma on a free looks like a terrific signing. Excellent value. Franca is apparently an excellent prospect although he is currently injured, and a bit raw, and also a 19 year old kid from Brazil so we shouldn’t expect too much from him to begin with.

Then the negatives. Other than Lerma there are no first team ready players that have come in. No new right back, no Zaha replacement ready to hit the ground running. Approx 1000 appearances have departed.

It depends on what your aspirations for us are this season. The new me is more
pragmatic. I don’t expect us to improve on that glorious 2021 window for at least 4 years because history tells us we have maybe 1 good window in 10, if “good” is defined as bringing in multiple first XI players. So I think it has been a fabulous window if we are honest with ourselves. Yes, we haven’t replaced Wilf with a first team player ready to have a pre-season, fully acclimatised to the PL and hit the ground running. But we have brought in an extra DM so we can have a double shield in front of the back 4. Strong rumours of a new goalkeeper at the time of writing too. We shouldn’t concede many with our low block, Roy’s speciality.

The old me would be pissed off because we have regressed in terms of attacking play. But does it matter? We should stay up, I’m expecting quite a few clean sheets. And Burnley, Sheffield Utd and Luton don’t look equipped for this league. Plus there’s Everton and a few others. I think we can stay up relatively comfortably, so another year of PL football and a step closer to the new stand being built and the academy players like JRS being ready. I think we can finish 16th. COYP.

Suggested Team and Formation For: Wolves (h) 03/09/23

Obviously with any new potential new signings it’s tricky to guess a line up, but I don’t think any new signings would go straight into the side anyhow.

Johnstone
Ward - Andersen - Guehi - Mitchell
Doucoure
Lerma - Schlupp
Ayew - Edouard - Eze

Bench: Clyne, Tomkins, Richards, Riedewald, Hughes, Ahamada + hopefully 3 new signings (GK, WG, ST) :)

Carabao Cup Third Round Draw

Wednesday 30th August, approx. 10.15pm.

Who do we want?

Rumour: Hugo Ekitike

Come on!

Transfers: Crystal Palace has started discussions for Hugo Ekitike (PSG)

Hugo Ekitike, whom the Paris leaders would have liked to send to Frankfurt as part of the transfer of Randal Kolo Muani to the capital, is targeted by Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace, which has entered the race.

Hugo Ekitike is going to be one of the attractions of the last days of the transfer market. In the middle of negotiations between PSG and Frankfurt to bring in Randal Kolo Muani, the Parisian striker saw Premier League clubs come to the negotiating table.

After West Ham, it is Crystal Palace who would like to be loaned with the option to buy the former Rémois. The prospect of joining England would please Ekitike. It is still necessary that all the conditions are met.

German translation needed.

Is there anybody out there who could help me with a bit of German translation. I need to send a letter/email to somebody who I have never met and don’t know, which will ask for a bit of personal information. If I use google translate it will come across as just a scam so it needs to be quite accurate. It’s also quite a sensitive subject so needs to be worded carefully.

Short story, I found some documents in a shed in the garden of a derelict house in Shirley back in 1974/5 belonging to a German soldier from WW2. (Pretty sure that Isle of Wight was with me) Finally got round to doing a bit of research and I’m pretty sure that I’ve found his family. If possible I’d like to get them back to them, If they want them.

When will Wilf come HOME?

Just a matter of time I guess ... We miss him already as he would have got the Winner against Brentford and got us a draw against ten men Arsenal!
Will he settle in Turkey or fall out with his new club?

Wilf come Home!

Suggestion: Jonathan Rowe

dimanche 27 août 2023

Young winger at Norwich. Looks a good prospect and currently league top scorer.

Crystal Ball: Plymouth Away - League Cup

After four points from three games in the League, we have a distraction on Tuesday night with a trip to Plymouth.

As usual the score, scorers and attendance.

A reminder of the cup rules from the ongoing thread: "Cup matches are based on the result of the match before any penalties. Therefore if the match goes to penalties then the match is judged to be a draw, regardless of who wins the shootout."

Suggested Team and Formation For: Plymouth (a) EFL Cup 29/08/23

samedi 26 août 2023

Underestimate Plymouth at your peril, would only make a few changes where players are close to challenging the first team. Clyne, Richards, Rak-Sakyi and Ahamada. Hodgson said Hughes is back training on Thursday so he won’t be available yet.

Johnstone
Clyne - Andersen - Richards - Mitchell
Doucoure - Lerma
Rak-Sakyi - Ahamada - Eze
Ayew

Whitworth, Ward, Guehi, Tomkins, Riedewald, Schlupp, Gordon, Edouard, Mateta

4 changes. A chance for Clyne to challenge Ward as that’s probably the position where there isn’t much between the 2 options. I’d hope Richards gets some game time as I’d have him as our third choice ahead of Tomkins. And then let’s see what Rak-Sakyi and Ahamada can do from the start. I think that keeps the team still strong enough to win the game while not making too many changes at all.

Suggestion: Mariano Díazr

Recently released by Real Madrid. Only 30 and plays as a striker. Won lots and not a bad scoring record.

Rumour: Guaita to Celta Vigo

To view the link you have to Register or Login

The second closed incorporation, as reported by Faro de Vigo this Saturday, is Vicente Guaita, veteran goalkeeper, who already sounded a few weeks ago as a possible reinforcement, and that he arrives free from Crystal Palace, where he played the last years. A surprising zero cost addition to a key position like goal.

As reported by Faro de Vigo, both Douvikas and Guaita are closed signings, and will be announced as soon as Gabri Veiga's departure is confirmed, which could become official today. From there, only one midfielder would be missing and the squad would be closed for this "illusional" centennial season.

Bank account under review

I put this on Twitter and will do the same here in case anyone has any advice / pointers

My bank account is under review, with no warning or anything.

I finally got to speak to someone earlier who had knowledge and he said it's because of a transaction from July. This was a p2p transaction after I sold some crypto (USDT tether) on OKX. In my mind, this is a completely above board transaction and I've only done this sort of thing once - for £672, so not like it was thousands of pounds and Barclays would have got some sort of flag.

It sounds to me like the person that transferred the money has reported me, and is therefore trying to get the money back AND the USDT. However, I'm not sure

Does anyone think this could be problematic for me and the account will get closed - everything I do is through Barclays. My current account, ISA and Barclaycard, so I'm a bit worried...

Thanks!

Results tracker compared to last season

mercredi 23 août 2023

A few people seemed to find the one I did last season an interesting discussion point/ measure of how the season was going, so I thought I'd repeat it.

Obviously we finished comfortably away from safety in a good 11th position (despite being 12th for what felt like forever). So this is not in any way a relegation avoidance calculator.

For this seasons comparison I will use:
Burnley for Leicester
Sheffield United for Leeds
Luton for Southampton

Sheffield United (Leeds) a)... 22/23 W... 23/24 W... 0
Arsenal h)... 22/23 L... 23/24 L.... 0
Brentford a)... 22/23 D
Wolves h)... 22/23 W
Aston Villa a)... 22/23 L

Rumour: Eze to Man City

So, what would people take for this one? Times say he is one of 2 players they are interested in instead of Paqueta. Apparently we want £70m and there is a 20% sell on fee due to QPR.

Injury thread

Couldn't find a specific thread. We seem to have a load of injuries in the senior and U21s. Does anyone fancy keeping us updated on the injury and when back?

I think from the senior squad it's:

Olise
Franca
Hughes
Ferguson
Ebiowei
Mateta? (hopefully minor)

and Academy:

Ozoh
Adamarola
Balmer

Probably loads I've missed.

When is the Penguin getting weighed in to the tune of £450 Million ?

mardi 22 août 2023

A simple enough question and one that should be both posed and unequivocally answered by the South coast contingent on here.

In the sole interests of equality, fairness and generally "doing things in the right way", when does the all that debt get repaid ?

There is nothing evidential that supports the last strand of the above statement, in any actions undertaken by the club created out of the Withoutdean in 2011.

Safe the virtuous and expert trousering of £450 Million, without some much as an eyebrow being raised.

Why would such a noble, decade old institution not fully address and discharge both its moral and societal duties as soon as they were due ?

Afterall, they will never again have the resources to do the "right thing" out of short-medium term cash flow profiles.

Ground support staff

Firstly I would like to reach out to all support staff inside & outside of the ground - your immense in sometimes trying situations

Secondly I would love for Parish to recognize us cheap season ticket holders sic
Compared to the suited boys in the exclusive section

In that there is not enough s support staff on match days - the queues at the food is too long , the bar too long , the ticket collection only had two out of six windows open & many people miss the start even when they turn up in adequate time.

Please recognize the good staff we have but support them & the paying supports better - get more staff !!!!!!

Humour at the Fringe

These were the top ten jokes at the Fringe this year. Don't agree with the order of merit though. Your thoughts on the best of the ten?

Top 10 jokes of the 2023 Fringe

1. I started dating a zookeeper, but it turned out he was a cheetah - Lorna Rose Treen

2. The most British thing I've ever heard? A lady who said 'Well I'm sorry, but I don't apologise.' - Liz Guterbock

3. Last year I had a great joke about inflation. But it's hardly worth it now - Amos Gill

4. When women gossip we get called bitchy; but when men do it's called a podcast - Sikisa

5. I thought I'd start off with a joke about The Titanic - just to break the ice - Masai Graham

6. How do coeliac Germans greet each other? Gluten tag - Frank Lavender

7. My friend got locked in a coffee place overnight. Now he only ever goes into Starbucks, not the rivals. He's Costa-phobic - Roger Swift

8. I entered the 'How not to surrender' competition and I won hands down - Bennett Arron

9. Nationwide must have looked pretty silly when they opened their first branch - William Stone

10. My grandma describes herself as being in her "twilight years" which I love because they're great films - Daniel Foxx

Suggested Team and Formation For: Brentford (a) 26/08/23

Johnstone
Ward - Andersen - Guehi - Mitchell
Doucoure - Lerma
Rak-Sakyi - Eze - Ayew
Edouard

Matthews, Clyne, Richards, Tomkins, Riedewald, Schlupp, Ahamada, Gordon, Ola-Adebomi

Schlupp has been poor for 2 games in a row in my opinion, let’s get JRS in for him. Failing that, Ahamada. But I feel JRS is the more natural winger and having him in the team will provide the side with more balance.

Attacking absentees are hurting us, Olise, Franca and Mateta could’ve all been used yesterday. Hughes could’ve given us something different in midfield too, and is someone Hodgson would’ve used.

3 injuries and 1 seemingly on the way out the door. Hopefully we get a striker replacement by the time this game swings around.

Favourite gigs

What gigs have you been to that had the wow factor. Big band or singer in a small venue or a secret gig.

Been to lots of gigs over the years but the special ones to mention. Prince at the Camden Underworld. First night 50 in the crowd and the next night full to capacity he played one of his greatest gigs for over 3 hours. Oasis at the Astoria. David Bowie at the Astoria. Kate Bush at the festival hall.

Process for Re-Assigning Tickets

Hi all. My cousin can't make tonight's game so trying to get a paper ticket to give to a friend.

Last season if I wanted to do this I just called the Box Office and they sorted it for me but I've been on hold for 30 mins and the callback system doesn't seem to be working.

Is there a new way of doing this that I have missed?

Release clauses

Something I've been wondering about since the Olise news. If they're meant to be kept secret and the player/his representatives telling a rival club the figure needed to active his release clause is considered tapping up, what's the point of them? No one's going to bid over it and it'd be obvious when they bid the right amount that they knew something they shouldn't

Rumour: Dean Henderson

samedi 19 août 2023

Man Utd boost with Dean Henderson set for bidding war as Premier League rival enter transfer race

CRYSTAL PALACE are making a shock move for Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson.

Eagles have been told that the Old Trafford No 2 is available on a loan-to-buy basis and he is high on their list as Vicente Guaita looks set to leave Selhurst Park.

Palace would take Henderson if the deal is right — and they have a chance as Nottingham Forest back away from targeting the stopper who had last season’s loan at the City Ground cut short by injury.

United wanted cash or a guarantee that Henderson, 26, would move to Forest permanently if he played enough games this season. But that became a hard deal to broker.

Palace will also find it tough to sign Henderson but are trying to find a solution and have two loan spaces free.

Roy Hodgson’s men are also looking at Southampton’s Alex McCarthy and have asked about Daniel Iversen at Leicester.

Henderson and current Palace No 1 Sam Johnstone are close pals and would be battling for the first-team jersey.

Dane Iversen has been the subject of a Palace inquiry — along with Foxes striker Kelechi Iheanacho.

SunSport revealed earlier this month that Man Utd expected a transfer to Nottingham Forest to go through.

However, both the Red Devils and Steve Cooper's men were concerned that undergoing a premature medical could see the goalkeeper aggravate his injury.

Nottingham Forest have also added Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner to the squad.

Forest are currently above Man Utd in the table after beating Sheffield United 2-1, while Erik ten Hag's side suffered an abject 2-0 loss at Tottenham.

The Beatles CD Album

I'm looking a Beatles CD album for Mum. I had a quick look but i'm unsure which one to get. I know some of their songs but that's about all i know.

Mum is looking for a 'Best Of' compilation or an album with their earlier tracks on. I think she's looking for the classics between 1962/63 to 1967/68.

Any Beatles fans here that can recommend anything please?

Many thanks :p

Football shirts without sponsor logos

vendredi 18 août 2023

Chums - as someone who is not keen (putting it mildly) on any sponsor logo being splashed on the front of jerseys, does anyone know if there is a way to buy them - especially CP ones - sans logo ? Seeing Chelsea and Forest play in 'clean' kits this season is fabulous (yes, I know it may not last) and I applaud WHU for offering fans the choice of purchasing jerseys with or without the sponsor logo (Betfair) so wondering if there is a wider movement that I've missed towards 'clean' jersey sales ?

Wilf or Olise?

Would you rather Wilf had stayed on for a few more years or Olise sign his 4 year deal which he did yesterday?

I know there is the possibility of still losing MO in the next window etc but if it was black and white and both intended to stay for the next few years which one would you have preferred to have signed?

I’ll go first.

For me it’s a no brainier with Olise, think the assist stats prove he was a far greater threat for us last season.

Keen to know others thoughts.

Suggestion: Sell Doucoure for over £50m?

Whilst we are cashing in, I think we should sell Doucoure as well, if Liverpool are interested at over £50m and we could get Tyler Adams. The latter has a £20m release clause apparently. Quite why no one has activated it I don’t know. Would be a good deal, the transfer window is mad at the moment. We need to hold our nerve and exploit it if we can. What price would people take for Doucoure, as a matter of interest? Lerma is on a free transfer don’t forget. COYP :p

Roshaun Mathurin

This kid played the 2nd half of our U21 win v Man U yesterday as Trialist B. He was sensational. He apparently has been released by Spurs after suffering an ACL injury in 2021. He's 19 and it was like watching a young Wilf. Surely we will offer him a deal, after all he has been injured so its our speciality 😁

Tooth ache stopped aching…

Last week I had really bad tooth ache emanating from a single tooth. Very sensitive to hot and cold plus any hint of pressure on the tooth.

Went to my dentist, who took an x-ray and couldn’t see anything obvious, so referred me to an Endodontist and I have an appointment tomorrow. They said they will take a CT scan of the area and will cost pushing $600 with the office visit/consultation.

Anyway over the weekend the ache has just gone away. Not overly heat sensitive or pressure sensitive, nothing I can’t live with. So now my quandary is do I cancel my appointment? I hate to waste $600 to be told they can’t see anything, on the other hand there must be something going on.

Decisions, decisions…

Anyone else had a toothache that comes and goes?

Christmas Holiday Recommendations

Hi All,

Myself + 8 other adults and 4 kids (including one who's a baby) would like to go on holiday over Christmas for roughly 10-14 nights.

Most of the group are my Wife's family who live in Colombia and we want to go somewhere warm, but need to consider that travel with kids to Asia is too far from Latin America and Europe isn't warm enough.

We looked at doing a tour of Argentina and the Colombian family are a bit old school and wanted to book a tour (:wallbash:) but it came out extremely expensive at £2k per person without flights.

Considering the likes of Costa Rica at the moment, but wondered if anyone had any bright ideas for destinations in that part of the world that are baby friendly, nice weather and suit young and old people.

A bit vague I know, but I need some inspiration...

Looking for a little advice, I’ll be in London with my son at the end of October and seen palace playing spurs on the 28th, I assume tickets for this match wouldn’t reach general sale so my question is if I was to buy 2 memberships for palace what would my chances be of getting 3 tickets ( 2 adults 1 child) for the game, or would it sell out quickly?

Winging It - A Palace Podcast - 23/24 Season

Right, so I know this is probably going to garner the comment version of that clip of the old woman going "what, another one?!" but here we all are.

Some of you may know that I was part of the Preview Team on the Back of the Nest podcasts along with Terence, Albert and Producer Sam. Over the Summer, the four of us decided we wanted to do our own thing and so we've (amicably) left BOTN to start Winging It. No beef or anything, just wanted to try and build something up from scratch and try something a bit different.

I guess if you listened to us before and liked us, then hopefully you'll stick with us and give the new show a listen. If you've never listened to us before, we'd really appreciate you giving us a try and if you listened to us on BOTN and hated us... er... I dunno, give us a go again anyway?

We're in all the usual spots - To view the link you have to Register or Login and To view the link you have to Register or Login as well as places like Castbox, Amazon and Overcast - and two episodes are up already. Episode 0 is more of an intro, discussing why we support Palace, favourite players, our thoughts on the worst Palace players etc and the first episode proper came out yesterday discussing:
  • Jimmy's retirement
  • Wilf's departure
  • Guaita's situation
  • Trevor Francis RIP
  • Our usual predictions (top scorer, assists, clean sheets, POTY and outrageous prediction) for the season ahead
  • We also have a Sheffield United fan talking about what to expect from their point of view
I'll keep this updated throughout the season as I did with the old show and obviously welcome any comments (as long as you don't dig me out for my nasal voice, we all know how bad it is) as the season goes on.

Flying to Seattle - Advice please

Flight booked for January from LHR with 3 hours to catch ongoing connection but within hours they re-scheduled giving us less than half that time.

SEA recommends 3 hours to switch flights so in all likelihood we will miss ours?

Was happy to change LHR - SEA to day before and stay overnight but told the 2 flights are linked and cannot be split?

We may get lucky and breeze through security but I doubt it somehow and I can see this getting messy . . . and expensive!

A mate with some knowledge has said relax . . . we'll be put on the next available flight even with another carrier. Hope he's right but not convinced.

Have complained to Virgin and await response.

Would welcome any thoughts.

I was just mulling over this. Various organisations nominate and publicise a person for something outstanding, altruisic, game changing etc. every year. The most famous probably being Time.

You could look at a number of individuals and consider their longer term inpact actually resulted in nothing more than a footnote in history.

In real terms, the man (typically) of the year is very often a right evil bastard, narcisstic, selfish etc..

I propose going from the end of WW1 and listing the real mean and women of the year. Someone like our old friend Adolf would do a Brasil and take one version of the cup home forever.

Programmes looking for new home

Hundreds of programmes needing a good home
1956 onwards, including cup semis and finals, play offs etc
Also Palace news, Eagle Eye, FYP, Eastern Eagles etc

Most in decent condition, considering some have been in my loft for a number of years. I don't have a list.

Need to collect from a few miles south of Ashford, Kent.
Would like a small payment for a life times work.:)
DM me if interested.

No win no fee solicitors

What are the pitfalls?

Has anyone done this? Anyone to recommend that are clear on what is to be paid?

The synopsis is that a members golf club has breached the 2010 Equalities Act on the protected status of disability and I want to explore the case a bit further.

Legal Eagles, please step forward.

Rumour: Patson Daka

Sounds like we've had a bid rejected.

Everton also interested.

Daka's wages won't be an issue as he just wants to play PL again.

Leicester apparently open to a sale for the right price as his wages are £80k/week.

Help Needed- New Ticketing Process

Hi all. Quick question- I’m looking at my loyalty points and they have been stuck on the same number since the end of last season and my season ticket points, or club shop purchase points, haven’t yet shown when I log into my account.

Are loyalty points now stored/counted elsewhere? Thought I saw someone said that they had two loyalty points tallies? Can someone in the know confirm to me how it works these days?

Cheers

Police interviews - how do they (really) work?

Watching police dramas on tv I'm constantly wondering what ever comes out of police interviews.

Fuzz: "You did it didn't you?"

Perp: "No I didn't"

Guv (observing): "Damn - we've got nothing."

In reality, do people incriminate themselves? Or fess up when they realise the police really do have evidence? Do they get outwitted in the interview room?

I'd be really interested to understand how they really go about it and what their goals are.

On another question we were wondering how it "harms your defence" if you stay silent but then rely on evidence in court. Surely the court is interested in what is the fact over and above when it was proffered.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson wants to sign Southampton and Scotland striker Che Adams, 27, as Palace's French forward Jean-Philippe Mateta heads for the exit, with RB Leipzig and Genoa keen on the 26-year-old. (Sun on Sunday)

BM CLC32 will go from August 2023 to December 2023.

15 bets pr match (2 weeks pr match).

Two matches against each-other. Home/away rule; Away teams bets have to finish before midnight (UK time) on Saturday evening.

Minimum odds limit 1.2.

We are mainly using BM rules, that means for example that;

Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

In-play betting is not allowed. With exception for events that goes over several days; For example after 2nd round of a golf tournament has been completed or before play starts on the final day of test cricket.

The contestants will be seeded for the group draw (based on overall performances in BM competitions).

For a bet to be valid, it must be placed before the published start time.

Remember fair play. Duplicating you’re opponents bets are not allowed.

The bloke needs naming and shaming. His cowardice is funny.

However, there's got to be grounds for the arrest and exclusion of quite a lot of Peterborough fans looking at that clip. The dancing hoolies.

Refereeing this season

This is going to be fun.

Yellows galore and endless injury time!

Can't help but feel its going to help the big clubs more... Not to mention we will see if the likes of Fernandes get the yellows they reckon are going to be given.

Bets on 40+ points cards in the Championship games this weekend anyone? :D

How good should your 2nd Goalkeepers be?

Maybe worth a separate thread away from a Transfer Rumour about a CB, but there is a considerable discussion about how much you need to spend on a second keeper.

Right now we have Johnstone, on a free, Guaita, seemingly looking to leave, Matthews, very much a No 3, and the promising but almost untried Joe Whitworth. We are seemingly after Soria from Getafe for around €10m, on the basis that Guaita is off, and some are saying why pay that much when we need other players? Ignoring the fact that we can buy more than one or two players a window.

So, how much should you pay for the No 2? How important are they?

This is the stats list on appearances on all comps since promotion..

2013/14 Speroni 38, Hennessey 1, Matthews 1
2014/15 Speroni 37, Hennessey 7
2015/16 Hennessey 38, McCarthy 7, Speroni 2
2016/17 Hennessey 31, Mandana 10, Speroni 2
2017/18 Hennessey 29, Speroni 13
2018/19 Guaita 23, Hennessey 20, Speroni 2
2019/20 Guaita 35, Hennessey 5
2020/21 Guaita 37, Butland 2, Hennessey 1
2021/22 Guaita 30, Butland 8+1
2022/23 Guaita 28, Johnstone 9, Whitworth 2

It’s interesting that Hennessey backed up then replaced Speroni, but no one really challenged Hennessey until Guaita arrived. Was he good in that period? He was Ok but not great. Once Guaita settled, he was done.

Guaita had ok competition from Butland, but Johnstone has pushed him much harder.

Personally, 2 starting quality keepers is essential, and while we’ve usually managed to pick up frees, sometimes you need to bite the bullet and if Guaita goes I certainly would want to rely on Matthews. Also, having two 30 year old “first choices” give Whitworth & Goodman 2-3 years to develop to see if they are good enough.

Random pub culture 😳

vendredi 4 août 2023

We all love a bit of pub culture but sometimes it takes the biscuit.
So here I am ,sitting in my local pub and there's a spare seat at the bar next to me,so this lady asks if she can sit down,to which I replied "of course you can" her introducionly speach was "I'm bisexual and my son told me he's been sucking cock for the last 5years while his girlfriend watches"

Can you imagine going to a Queen concert without Mercury up front.
Why didn't they just let it go.

Attenzione pickpocket!

Here's a good one!

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Obviously stopping crime = good.

Obviously being massively right wing racist = bad.

I think there's a really interesting conversation here - the Roma people are not treated kindly in Italy (or elsewhere, really, for the most part).

Can't help but wonder how many times they've profiled and been incorrect, but given the massive rise in pickpocketing behaviour (it's a trope in Barcelona these days), can you separate the positive anti-crime message from the awful political standpoint?

House Buying Legal Issue

A BBS classic thread title!

My brother is a renter up north. He and his wife are buying for the first time. Nothing to sell.

They've gone through the conveyancing process and exchanged 3 weeks ago. Completion date was supposed to be yesterday. They didn't complete. Apparently the seller has a loan on the property relating to one of his businesses. No payment plan had been agreed. Unbelievably this was only picked up on the morning of completion day! My brother's solicitor said it only came up on the final completion day searches. That has got to be bollocks right? Surely it's the job of any solicitor to pick that up and address it way before exchange of contracts?

Anyhow they've still got two more weeks in their current rented property so if this can be sorted (by perhaps the seller paying back the loan with the proceeds of the sale) relatively quickly then they should just about be okay albeit with less time to move all their gear across.

If it all falls through they are f**ked because their mortgage offer will lapse in a couple of months and any new mortgage will be at a much higher rate and consequently unaffordable.

I suppose my question is are they entitled to compensation for this? I know that a buyer can forfeit a deposit for not completing. But can a shifty seller just wash his hands and walk away?

Have read that Luke Dreher has signed for Wealdstone. We was out of football all last season. He has played in trial games and impressed but injured his arm in the last game v A. F. C.Wimbledon. Wish him all the best as he looked very promising until a string of injuries hit his career
