Morning all,
I hope it's ok to post something like this on here and if not mods - apologies. I'm currently just over halfway through cycling from lands end to John O'Groats to raise money to improve the parents facilities for those with critically ill kids at Kings.
We're cycling around 100 miles each day and it's the hardest thing I've ever done physically on top of the anticipated fatigue it's so hot. Yesterday in south Lanarkshire the roads were actually sweating tar.
Today we've pushing on from Crawford in south Lanarkshire, through Glasgow and then around loch Lomond to crianlarich.
I'm doing this in memory of my daughter, Evelyn, who we unexpectedly lost at 11 days old in September 2021 - something I've discussed on another thread Since she died we've been with working with King's College Hospital Charity to look at ways to improve the facilities that parents of incredibly ill children use. We want to try to make sure that others like us, have somewhere comfortable and soothing to rest, cry and maybe just simply to survive, what will likely be the toughest hours and days of their lives.
We have been fundraising for just over a year now and have been blown away by the generosity of family, friends, colleagues and strangers who have already contributed almost £30,000 already - one you include bits others have raised too. We now know that if we could raise another £6,000, we would have enough to transform the three parents rooms in King's - which I can assure you will make a huge difference to those who have to walk the same dark path that my wife & I did in 2021.
I appreciate that many are feeling the squeeze at the moment and but - if you would like to contribute you can do so here: To view the link you have to Register or Login
