Yesterday our governing party suffered some very bad local election results, losing most of the autonomous regions and most of Spains main cities. A lot of possible reasons have been suggested, mostly anger with the coalition partners or the support from regional nationalist parties. Personally Ive mostly been impressed with their economic steering, but it is the shade of govt I favour, though the PM is not personally my cup of tea.
What nobody expected was that hed bring the general elections forward from November to the earliest possible date, 23rd of July. I just wanted to celebrate this audacious move, and tip my titfer to the slightly irritating Pedro Sanchez. He does make politics more lively, I must say, it beats cowering in govt but barely in power till the last moment possible.
