Match atmospheres that seemed to hit some undefinable new level!

Some games are always going generate a good atmosphere: big name teams, play-off finals, for example.

But what games have you been to that, for whatever reason, just seemed to turn into something special? Games that perhaps, on paper, didn’t seem anything out of the ordinary, but then something just “clicked” with the Palace fans.

I recall a 3-2 win at Reading in 1987 or 88, and a half-time chant of “Stevie Coppell’s Red’n’Blue Army” just seemed to build and build until it reached an incredible crescendo. Heard later that the players could hear it in the dressing room and couldn’t get their heads around the noise we were making before they were even back on the pitch!

May even have been the same season, but a 3-1 win at a hostile Man City was a mental day for what may have been only 600 or 700 travelling Palace fans.

Over to you!
