I moved into a new build house about 4 years ago, and in that time I've not had a single water bill. Roughly a year after moving in, I called the water company that were apparently looking after my bills, and they were useless. At first they had the wrong address info, which I corrected. After this they said they would shortly send me a bill. After a few weeks I chased this to be told it would be actioned shortly.
Repeat, repeat, and repeat over the next few months, and I gave up.
1) I'm assuming that interest/a penalty fee can't be added to whatever balance I am to be eventually sent?
2) If this goes past 6 years, am I correct in thinking that I won't legally need to pay anything outside of that period? E.g. if I am sent a bill after 7 years, I'll only need to pay the last 6 years and can discount anything (1 year in this example) before that?
I've got enough money in the bank to cover whatever bill eventually finds me, so I'm not too worried. J
I'm just wondering where I stand when it is eventually sent out.
