My girlfriend and I are in the process of buying our first property -a period, 1 bed, 1st floor flat in Leyton - and were planning on converting the loft into a bedroom before we moved in. The majority of houses on this road have loft conversions. We have since had a builder look at the loft who is saying we will need to raise the roof/lower ceiling to get this done. He is now saying there is a possibility this wont get approved by the council. the fact that a lot of houses on the street do have loft conversion is confusing.
I was wondering if there was anyone on here who has had to go through a similar process and could offer some advice.
