Player Ratings And Reviews: Man City (away)

samedi 6 mai 2017

We were battered in the second half but in the first half we did ok and looked threatening going forward. But we came across a Man City team who are full of pace and talent in the middle of the park. I think they will do very well next season. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Just wish we'd given Sako and Remy game time as they might bee needed next week, and they would benefit from game time.

Henessey 6 Did ok, apart from their 3rd goal his hand should have been stronger

Van Aanholt 6 Did ok, a bonus point for his comfort on the ball going forward
Schlupp 6 Fine in an unfamiliar position. Gets extra point for that.
Kelly 5 Defended ok apart from two goals, but looked slow. Squad player
Ward 5 Did ok in 2nd after looking very slow and off the pace in first half

Milivojevic 5 Was ok in first half, and then tired. Number of high pace games in a row taking toll in his first Premiership season?
Puncheon 3 Absolutely nothing at all. Is Captain Fantastic taking us down as predicted?
McArthur 4 Worked constantly, so credit for that. But ZERO quality knocks a point off.

Zaha 6 Worked hard, threatened, but no end product. Like the Wilf of years gone by. he can (and will) do better.
Benteke 6 Led the line ok. Good header. Zero support from the midfield.
Townsend 6 MOM Showed good end product. Let's hope he is ok for Hull.

Subs:

CYL 4 He's not up to it
Flamini n/a to be kind
Delaney n/a

We lost this game, as so many others, in midfield. No protection for the back 4. The likes of LM, JP and JM didn't protect the centre backs. And there was no support for WZ, AT (game was over for us when he went off) and CB. Normally I'd ask "where were they?" but this time they were out classed as well as disappearing and so Man City could hurt us. Whilst it'd be nice if a centre back was fit for Hull, the most important player to be back for us is Cabaye. And in the meantime, let's pray for an Everton victory. COYP
