Advice needed: buying property with a mate

So a friend and I are buying a flat together to get on the property ladder. Having done some reading online, it's clear the document that'll outline our ownership of the flat is a Deed of Trust. He has a solicitor he uses often, and has said he will get him to draw up the contract and Deed of Trust - should I be instructing my own solicitor to check over Deed of Trust?

Does anyone have experience of buying property with a friend? Any other tips to give/things to watch out for? Any help would be appreciated (just to make sure all angles are covered)!
