There have been a few murmurs of late concerning the unpalatable prospect of being relegated by Manchester United. It would not, of course, be the first time, as they administered the coup de grâce in 1998 with a 3-0 win at Selhurst. But on that occasion we still had three more matches to play and it was no more than a mathematical rubber stamp. A last day knife-edge relegation at Old Trafford would be a different matter altogether.
But will we be facing that dismal possibility as we make our way apprehensively towards the theatre of potential nightmares, or will our fate have been sealed one way or another before that day dawns? We haven't had a last day decider since Peterborough at Selhurst in 2013 so the feeling that we're due one is difficult to shake off.
