The midfield trio of McArthur, Puncheon & Ledley - why does it work better than any other combination? If you look at results since Pardew came to Palace, it's the combination which has largely worked best. Since Jedinak went to the Asian Cup & even since we pulled off the big signing of Cabaye, these 3 when played together seem to get results. Honestly - check the results since AP took over.
So why? Jedinak was probably a more dominant defensive midfielder than Joe. Although Joe is arguably better in possession. Flamini hasn't got close to getting ahead of him in the pecking order since joining, despite playing kind of regularly for a top 4 side last season.
Cabaye is a more decorated midfielder than Puncheon or Jimmy Mac - you don't get in the France squad for being average. Yet apart from the odd glimpse here & there, I don't think he's ever consistently matched JM or JP.
Just interested to hear other people's thought on why these three seem to work above other tried combinations?
