Couldn't find a thread relating specifically to this among all the Pardew out ones although quite clearly when looking at some of the comments, there is a growing consensus that the players themselves need to take responsibility for what occurs on the pitch.
I have no desire to slate Scott Dann but the evidence would suggest that his leadership and organisation skills are a bit lacking. I know that many on here want to lay the blame at the feet of coaches and management but the 2nd goal yesterday was probably one of the most abject pieces of set play defending I have seen at this level in a long while. The players are supposed to be talented, top level footballers and they are being paid vast sums of money which in any other profession would require significant levels of responsibility to be placed upon them.
Whether Scotty lacks the persona to do the job or does not command the respect of his teammates is a question for others to answer. However, it is clear that organisation and leadership is lacking on the pitch and that needs to be addressed. There has been a suggestion that Delaney should play simply because he appears to have these talents. Certainly Chelski stuck with Terry for longer than his footballing skills alone merited and although I don't agree with this part personally, many will argue that Jedi should have been kept at Selhurst for the same reason. But he has gone so please, no more BS about what we should have done in the past. Looking forward, should consideration be given to replacing the skipper and if so, who would you go with?
