1st Robert Eaton Memorial Fund Match,
Southwick F.C.,Old Barn Way,Southwick,
Friday November 9th 2001 K.O. 19.45.
Not a Palace game admittedly, but thought it needs bringing to the attention that the Annual Robert Eaton Memorial Funds 1st game has recently had its 15th Anniversary!
Did anyone here play in or go to this game as a fan? I actually thought it was Friday 16th November 2001 but it was a week earlier,It was a cracking night, both fans mingled,we won at the death on penalties after being 0-4 down in the actual game! Peter Taylor was there,as was a film crew from TVS filming a segment for Meridian Tonight. (Which a pissed up Ismale was seen singing arm in arm with The Woolpackers! :D ;) )
It started a annual event which has grown & is still going strong to this day :p
Its great that something good come out of the Harrowing events of 9-11 & that Palace & Weed fans can put the rivalry aside & remember Robert Eaton in this way.
As for anyone who actually remembers that night if you recall a pitch invader who ran on after our winning penalty, mobbed the players & gave loads to the B******* fans behind the goal then,15 years later,i'd like to own up as that was me! :lux:
I met a certain famous BBS'r by the name of Riccardo that night, had a few beers, top top man.
