Support for fans rights - Carl Zeiss Jena

vendredi 24 juin 2016

As we know, Germany are light years ahead when it comes to supporters issues with their initiatives and supporter rights, from safe standing to beers in the stadium.

Hopefully this is of interest to some, but a club in the fourth division, Carl Zeiss Jena are set to build a new stadium after their council deemed it too run down. Their fans saw it as opportunity to help re-develop their ground but were not consulted when they council planned to move supporters out of their end in the 'Sudkurve' (the South stand) to facilitate the away fans move to the South stand. Their fans are now campaigning to stay in the South Stand and keep the away fans away from the end that their supporters are historically known for.

The council, local police and fire departments want the move for away fans in the South Stand because it would be safer because they can in effect make a divided entrance to the stadium (a bit like the entrance to Millwalls ground I believe) but Carl Zeiss Jena fans, believe that if more money is spent on the South stand they would be able to stay in their stand and be able to facilitate away fans.

Here you can find more information and support their cause to raise funds for their stand. As I say it's another interesting project coming out of Germany.
