I'm not a doom merchant and have never thought that negative thoughts benefit anyone but we seem to be lacking depth in the squad after getting past a top thin veneer of quality. Injuries or suspensions have reduced us to a quivering wreck lacking confidence.
Who needs to be moved on? Who needs to be moved down the pecking order?
And what type of player do we need - not looking for names as that can just get silly.
For me:
Neither Hennesey nor McCarthy should be first choice. Probably not Speroni either due to his age. Need to bring someone in and release one.
Delaney should not be first choice, Hangelaand neither, move one on and move one down. New CB needed.
Another right back to push Ward? He's been off the boil, not pushed hard enough by Kelly?
Jedinak should possibly remain as a squad player but skin of his teeth.
Chamakh as much as I love him does not contribute enough for the wages, move him on.
Adebayor - I'm not keen to see him stay on long term but willing to be proved wrong.
Gayle - squad player at most but need to play to his strengths if he is brought on otherwise he is pointless.
Sako - move on - out of his depth.
McArthur, Cabaye remain first choice.
Puncheon and Ledley have a part to play but not regular starters for me.
Lee remain as a squad player.
My safe players are really only Wickham, Cabaye, McArthur, Dann, Souare, Zaha and Bolasie.
