Hullo,
Seems I'm due a fine for not filing self-assessment from in 13-14. I only discovered this when doing my Self Assessment following the filing of my Ltd company accounts and Self assessment for 14-15 in Jan.
Apparently they sent me a form which I did not receive.
During 2013-14 I was paid by two separate employers and the only break in this employment is a period of two days between the Friday and Monday that I started my new job.
It seems however that the second employer paid me Emergency tax on the first month which left a short-fall of £250 to pay.
I am querying the fine as I would have no way of knowing that I had to do a self assessment, having had my tax and NI sorted by the previous employers and not receieving the forms.
Anyone experience something like this in the past? Thinking about appealing which I know will take two months. I am due a rebate for 14-15 as I wasn't drawing a salary for a fair while and it would be good to get hold of this but minus the £400 or so in fines for 'apparent late filing.'
