Bolasie versus Zaha

vendredi 4 décembre 2015

Surely two of the most exciting and talented wingers in the Premier League. It strikes me that they have so much in common ( Francophone African heritage, playing on the wings, Palace, from the Championship to promotion) they surely must have some symbiotic learning-training tactics school thing going on.

And so a question : can we compare their styles, tactics, gameplans etc ?

As somebody with an embarrassingly small knowledge of footy, Wilfried is more comfortable out near the corner flag and putting in crosses. Yannick is 50:50 to head towards the flag and cross the ball or to make a direct goalward scramble from the midfield. Yannick also seems to put more headers towards the goal. In terms of tricks and flicks, Yannick seems more comfortable with sending the ball skyward and getting around his marker while Wilfried prefers to play the ball on the surface.

But what would i know, i am just the fat fella in the back of the pub with a pint in my hand and shouting at the telly.

Its difficult to compare and contrast them cos they are both so brilliant. On many a happy occasion i have seen them stroll past 2 or 3 defenders as if they didn't exist.

Theirry Henry used to be a winger before getting converted into an out and out striker. Can Zaha and Bolasie do this ? Or better to keep them on the wings ?

So, what is your take on two of the best wingers in the game ?
