Boilers

mercredi 16 décembre 2015

So recently brought a new house.

The heating/hot water for the house is powered by a pretty ancient and inefficient back boiler. It was always the plan to replace in a few years once we could afford. However it was smelling a fuming/gasey so partner called the smell gas number. Bloke came said it was dangerous and turned off all gas supply to the house and said we need to get an engineer out to sort. He didnt say or really know what the problem was.

I know these things are pretty expensive to repair, and think British Gas charge £200 just for a couple of hours work, let alone difficult to find parts for back boilers.

Are we better off just getting a new combi boiler? If so any suggestions to which one?

Or could it just be small issue that could be sorted without breaking the bank?

Any general advice much appreciated.
