Being black harms job prospects

jeudi 2 avril 2015

Following fast on the heels of the ridiculous John Barnes comments, the unfortunate Chris Ramsey has been asked for a rent a quote.

I'm thinking being a shit manager, with a dreadful record - JOHN BARNES. And probably taking QPR down (regretable for Ramsey because it was all the 'should have been Englan manager's' doing), probably doesn't help prospects either.

Perhaps there should be more opportunities. And there certainly are in other aspects of the game - see Les Ferdinand and our own Brighty. Yet, to get a chance at one of the really big jobs, you need to have a small amount of sustained success somewhere. I can't think of a black manager that provides that CV - biggest chance was given to Paul Ince at Blackburn and he more than blew that one.

I agree entirely with the sentiment that the game needs more 'successful' black managers. Not sure that I think wheeling out individuals that have failed or are failing to whine about their situation is really helping the cause too much.
