I was unable to play videos on Youtube after they suddenly stopped playing.
The reason for this was down to the fact that I had turned my PC speaker icon off by un-plugging the external speakers to plug them into another device.
After re-plugging the external speakers back in I am once again able to watch Youtube videos without experiencing any problems.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and the Chrome browser.
I hope than this solution works for anyone experiencing similar problems.
