Instinct says this is rubbish, but I am interested to know if actually more money may be found for ground improvements if we are relegated. This could be because:
Parachute payments mean we have three years of premiership money? One further year in the premier league will just mean four years?
If we stay up TP will wish to spend tens of millions on the squad and wages. I dont believe Stoke made an operating surplus during his years of tenure (this could be wrong).
A subsequent relegation would therefore leave expensive contracts, which apparently we are not currently burdened by. Whilst each extra year in the PL may only give rise to an operating loss.
A bigger surplus with relegation may be untrue, but I am interested in peoples feedback on the crazy world of football finances.
