Traditional squad numbers

mardi 31 janvier 2023

Bit of an inane thread so apologies off the bat.

So it’s a bit out of fashion as squad numbers are a thing now, but when players wore 1-11 on the field, what number should the defensive midfielder be wearing?

I’ve seen posters describing midfielders as an ‘8 or a 6’, but isn’t a defensive midfielder a … ‘4’? To describe a midfielder as a 6 just seems awfully continental to me!

I always thought it was as follows:

1
2 - 5 - 6 - 3
7 - 4 - 8 - 11
9 - 10

Rumour: Iheanacho

The mystery striker?

I'd like that.

Your car thoughts please.

I might be in the market to downsize (from a large saloon) to something smaller. What I need is something that can take four (if necessary) but is not a conventional saloon, comes with plenty of kit and is fabulously good-looking.

Alfa might fit the bill but they don't do a hybrid engine (oops, forgot to mention that), and frankly I am a bit stumped.

So please, any thoughts do let me know. A pint (to be drunk in South London of course) for the person who comes up with a winning idea.

Rumour: Albert Lokonga

Loan bid according to Nixon.

Refs - Universally hopeless

Is it possible that Premier League refs could ever, EVER have the humility to make a statement like this

NBA Referees
Like everyone else, referees make mistakes. We made one at the end of last night’s game and that is gut-wrenching for us. This play will weigh heavily and cause sleepless nights as we strive to be the best referees we can be.
Maybe they had to apologise because the Lakers are like the Man Utd of the NBA though.
