More legal help needed :-(

Just pointing in the right direction would be good.

My daughter in laws parents split up and her dad married a new woman.
18iah years later it fell apart and divorce proceedings initiated. Unfortunately he was being a bit of a knob about it. He paid all the mortgage she didn’t work but put up a chunk of the collateral for the house. He claimed she didn’t deserve half the assets as she didn’t work. It all got very drawn out and acrimonious. He should have accepted and walked away unfortunately this led to big legal fees and debts and a grant decline in mental health. So bad he committed suicide. Now comes the help part.
He had, at 50%, about £275,000 in the house, a pension worth 80k a year and an insurance policy of £250,000 that will pay out.
The fool never changed his will and now the wife that he hated and was divorcing with all the associated paper work, is claiming the lot and refusing to give the daughter ANYTHING ! Claiming her solicitors are telling her she has every right to it all as the will wasn’t changed and she was down as the sole beneficiary. Daughter in law has had to deal with the death of her father and now this and is distraught.

So anything that can guide would be helpful. Really unsure where to turn, because as far as we can see. She has the legal right to do this. If his mind had been sound he would have changed his will but he was so messed up it killed him.
