We aren't ready for Europe

Despite the gutting loss, I won't say anything poor about our players who I thought gave it their all. Bolasie is getting stick but it appeared that we were pushing it to Wilfs wing more and possibly saving Bolasie for second half on the wing and down center. (No idea if that's the case but it felt like our game plan was to draw them first half and then bring Punch on to become more attacking and get a 1 - nil result.)

Now, onto the Europa League. I am glad we aren't in it. We aren't deep enough as a squad to have two separate and strong squads for league and Europe. As much as I was looking forward to our boys lifting the cup, I was dreading having them play in Anywherestan on a Thursday. We lost so much steam at the end of this season due to lack of substitutes (or substitutions). Let's kick on in Europe in a couple of seasons once our infrastructure and squad can handle it.

Damn proud of our players, gonna say that again. Already looking forward to cheering them on in Vancouver :lux:

Wayne Rooney at Cup Final

Still struggling to cope with yesterday's disappointment. If we had to lose, glad it was to an excellent strike rather than on penalties. Wouldn't want players taking individual responsibility for defeat into next season. Played as a team, lost as a team with heads held high.

Did anyone else notice how sporting Rooney was at final whistle? While rest of United players celebrated, he made point of going round and consoling Palace players. Also thought his comments after match praising Palace were very fair. Perhaps the young man is starting to grow up at last.

Credit where credit's due. His run and cross for their equaliser was pure class - even though it has spoiled the Summer for all of us.

F A Cup Build Up Diary Thread Epilogue Sunday 22nd May

So its over and as I left Wembley thoughts that was the last big game I would see live filled my head. However like 1990 it was mixed with the emotion of Pride in the team and fans I had then.

I had a brilliant day, with family and friends with the club I love and the family of fans.

There are so many thoughts so many moments. The fans tooting as I drove down early to Stevenage. The pictures with my grandchildren decked in Palace shirts. The journey by train (note here the train was packed a rather attractive young lady wear not a lot stood next to my seat, the view at my eye level was very revealing, spent journey looking at floor, too much excitement in one day not good for heart) The tube to Wembley full of fans, the Green Man, the walk up Wembley Way with my son a dream full filled again but this time for the F A Cup Final. Taking selfies helping others of a certain age take pictures with their loved ones.
Then again
The tout who moved out the way at the bottom of the tube steps at Wembley saying it was a pleasure when I thanked him you have to help the disabled he said, Bloody hell I am getting old. I know I am slow I know I struggle but yesterday I felt young alive loved every minute.

Wembley has a long way to go yet still not enough toilets, the complete balls up of Abide With Me and the National Anthem, the crazy corporate seats, with fans still coming back 8 minutes after the second half started. As a show piece stadium it needs to stop and think learn and improve.

The result we know and maybe its not my generation that will see us finally lifting a trophy but as I left yesterday one thing I knew more than anything else. I would never chosen any other team.

The legacy I continued the legacy I passed on to my family is safe. My generation of fans passed the baton on sometime ago. Its been taken , and more so taken to heights beyond my expectation. Yesterday in a sea of red and blue a little team built on aspiration showed what being a fan is about. Whilst some clubs may feel entitled, be it through history or money or new stadium or because there rivals have. Our club showed that what ever happens the moment you feel entitled you lose the soul of being a fan.

There are a whole host of comments about the team the challenges it faces in the coming season. The break up of the core of the team put together in a Bristol City car park. However not for this thread. I have my views on the HF yesterday they were brilliant my other views is not for this thread. I looked at the display and then the other end and tears filed my eyes ones of pride.

I love this side I love this club I feel proud that I pass to my family the generations here and in the future, the legacy passed to me ,the love of this great team. Come on You Palace

Glasses found

I found some glasses at Wembley in a brown case with a label saying good lookers!
