Surely Now Is the Time to Get Rid of 4-4-2 and Revert to 4-3-3

samedi 1 septembre 2018

Seeing as some twat started a Hodgson out thread, I thought I would actually start of thread that is worthy of discussion. In a league where most teams play some version of 4-3-3/4-2-3-1, our compact 4-4-2 formation made us a different proposition to play against and saw us grind out results last season. But teams seem to have figured it out, Wilf doesn't get on the ball enough and more worryingly we don't have enough possession. We only had 40% possession against Fulham which is poor against a promoted team and only 35% possession first half against Southampton today. Surely now Roy has to change our system to 4-3-3 and try to get some more control in midfield and also give Wilf more space to get on the ball.

Unsavoury atmosphere today

Never normally post directly after a game but I feel I need to get this off my chest. The 12th man has gone, soton used this to their advantage. Players didn’t fancy it. Continuos discontent in A/B block. Cards handed out before the game encouraging fans to grass on their own wasn’t a great idea imo.

Match Updates: Weekend 01/09

Liverpool in the early action and Salah has missed a sitter. Mundane fixtures today (apart form us of course). Any other highlights lower down (after the dullsville of Leeds V Boro last night)?
