Former Latvian football national team player Andrejs Rubins , known to "Delfi" portal, passed away unexpectedly.

Rubin participated in the 2004 European Championship together with the Latvian national team. In the Latvian national team, Rubīns played 117 games, in which he scored nine goals. The former midfielder also holds a record - he has played in 59 matches in a row for the Latvian national football team. He made his debut for the national team on November 10, 1998 in a test match against Tunisia, but his last game was in October 2011 at the end of the European Championship qualification cycle against Croatia.

Rubin started his career in "Auda", playing in the first league of Latvia, but in 1997 he joined the Swedish club "Osters". The following year, the football player returned to Latvia and strengthened " Skonto ", where a successful three-year period was held, but then Rubin's journey abroad began. He first joined the famous English club "Crystal Palace" of London, followed by moving to Russia and playing for the famous " Spartak " of Moscow, "Shinnik" of Yaroslavl.

At the end of 2007, Rubins returned to Latvia, spending half a year in "Liepājas Metalurgs", and then played in Azerbaijan for the next five years, representing Baku " Inter ", "Qarabaq" and "Simurq".

In March of this year, Rubin's autobiography "I sat only once" was released. In recent years, the former football player had turned to coaching.
