Suggestion: Youcef Atal

Young promising rb from Nice. Obviously with Vieira as the manager now he has ties to Nice and also has a good relationship with the player. Atal is everything we are looking at right now and should be someone we definately look into with a market value of £15m

Speculation: William Saliba

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Ben White, and that may leave William Saliba needing another loan move; how about Crystal Palace?

Football.London suggest that White is nearing a £50million move to Arsenal from Brighton and Hove Albion.

They also claimed last week that Saliba is considering his future with White set to arrive, with a third loan move potentially in the offing.

WHO WANTS TO SIGN SALIBA FROM ARSENAL?

The Daily Mail have this week noted that Newcastle United and Lille are pushing to sign Saliba on loan.

The £27million talent needs games, and seemingly has options both in the Premier League and back in France.

Arsenal will need to pick his next club carefully if they do loan him out, and a new option may become available to them.

VIEIRA TO CRYSTAL PALACE

The Athletic report that Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira is on the verge of becoming Crystal Palace’s new manager following the exit of Roy Hodgson.

Vieira personally wanted Saliba on loan at Nice back in December, but was sacked by the Ligue 1 club just days later – who ended up signing Saliba anyway.

By heading to Palace, Vieira may well open up another avenue for Saliba, with a loan move to Selhurst Park potentially ideal.

The Eagles only have James Tomkins and Jaroslaw Jach as natural centre backs, though Cheikhou Kouyate and Martin Kelly can play there too.

Saliba would surely gain the first-team football be needs, and it would really benefit Arsenal to see him with a year of Premier League action under his belt.

Staying in London would also be great for Saliba, allowing him to properly settle in rather than heading back to France again.

If Vieira does land the Palace job, Arsenal should hope that he wants Saliba again, as spending a year with Palace could be the ideal loan move.

**2ND POLL** - The date the new manager gets appointed is....

Due to my own stupidity and blind faith, I assumed our new manager would have been appointed very soon after the last thread was made a month ago. I genuinely thought it would be a matter of hours, not days and certainly not weeks or months. I can only apologise for not being more thorough and giving multiple choices come the July option.

Of course, if an announcement is made this afternoon/evening, I'll look an even bigger knobhead!

So here we are again it seems. I will include upto the first day of the season and then just group therein after into one choice.

Winner/s win f--k all FTR apart from my congrats

Well done (well maybe, maybe not) to guessing July -

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after.

Muslim Athletes charter

This makes a lot of sense but I wonder what they mean by:

"There are 10 points contained within the charter, such as non-consumption of alcohol, including during celebrations, the provision of appropriate places to pray, halal food, and being allowed to fast in Ramadan."

Does that mean that champagne spray or beers in the changing room after is banned?

Palace book Club..."Don't Mention The 'Spor: Crystal Palace FC Versus The World"

Don't normally plug books but this one is special to us as we know the author very well.

Well done Neil the Eagle!

I just ordered it online and its number 2 on Amazon, that's not bad for a Palace book.

Quote:

Crystal Palace FC is not exactly a club with a long-standing tradition of international achievement.

South London’s stalwarts have made just one solitary foray into UEFA competition — to the much-derided and now defunct Intertoto Cup, which saw Palace immediately knocked out by a club located in Asia.

And yet, throughout the club's long history, Palace teams have competed in a jumble sale of smaller tournaments and played a wealth of friendlies against foreign opposition, at home and overseas.

From a supporter’s point-of-view, these adventures following the Eagles overseas, cheering them on as they face teams from around the world, are the lifeblood of the football experience.

From Real Madrid to Santa Claus FC, from the United States to China, with hilarious and heart-warming supporters’ tales, join Crystal Palace fans down through the decades, as they cross the globe in pursuit of their Boys in Red & Blue.

Don’t Mention the ‘Spor is written and collated by former Palace Echo editor, Neil Witherow.

FOREWORD BY FORMER CO-CHAIR OF CRYSTAL PALACE FC, STEVE BROWETT.

Discussion: Flynn Downes Summer 2021

East Anglian Daily Times reporting tonight that Ipswich have placed a number of players in their U23 squad by their manager for their poor performance last season.

This includes Downes who put in a transfer request in after Ipswich rejected a bid from us.

6 players have already been been let go on free transfers and a few others sold on the cheap as they look to start afresh.

Given our interest last season, worth another shot?

Rumour: Zagadou, Delaney, Alcacer

Mentioned by the journalist that broke the news on Favre’s appointment that he would go after:

Zagadou - 21 year old CB at Dortmund
Delaney - 29 year old DM at Dortmund (would need to be some player to be the best Delaney ever at Palace)
Alcacer - 27 year old forward at Villarreal (was at Dortmund).

All look to be excellent potential signings. Zagadou if only for the song possibilities.

Not sure if there has been a post on this, but am really enjoying the writing on there - esp the palace bit a.

But as the forthcoming attack on the electoral commission by this dictatorial self interested government proves, no institution is immune.

Any organisation or body that holds the government to account is threatened, ministers even hold the commons in contempt, rather announce policy to their mates in the MSN, than across the dispatch box. Meanwhile the country sleeps through the destruction of our democracy.

Why are England the constant under achievers

I'm still wondering WTF went wrong on Friday. Yet again we huffed and puffed. Again the manager seemed to make odd substitutions and the wrong time and players in the wrong places. But its ALWAYS the same. I was a little too young for 1966 but can remember from 70 onwards when we have won NOTHING. Germany have won the WC 4 times and the Euros 3
Italy WC 4 and Euros 1
France WC 2 and Euros 2
Spain WC 1 and Euros 3

In perspective we are at the same level as Greece with 1 WC win. Why?

John Textor takeover of Palace

Crystal Palace are the subject of a £220million takeover bid — by a pioneer in hologram technology.

American investor John Textor is understood to be leading a consortium that is attempting to take control of the club.

Palace’s future has been up in the air for some time amid reports current American co-owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer both want to sell the stakes they bought in 2015.

But after a number of bidders have come and gone, Eagles supporters will need convincing that Textor has real substance.

Although negotiations are believed to be at an advanced stage, there are doubts in financial circles about whether Textor is the right man to steer the Premier League club into a new era.

He is best known for leading the company that created holograms of deceased rapper Tupac Shakur for the Coachella Music Festival in 2012 and of the late Michael Jackson for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards.

But his name is mud in Hollywood because he was the chief executive who oversaw the slide into administration of renowned visual effects firm Digital Domain in 2012.

DD had previously won Oscars for work on films including Titanic.

But an attempt to change the company’s business model failed spectacularly and it filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy with debts of around £160m.

Unlike Harris and Blitzer, Textor is not a billionaire and so will have needed financial support from elsewhere to put together his Palace bid.

Harris, Blitzer and long-term chairman Steve Parish hold equal stakes of about 18 per cent.

Anyone wishing to have real control of Palace would need to take all three of them out.

Harris wants an exit from football, but business partner Blitzer has been building up a portfolio.

He has bought stakes in Bundesliga side Augsburg, Belgian team Beveren and other clubs.

Anyone done a USA football scholarship?

Or knows someone who has? Would be great to get some feedback do's and dont's. 17 year old has just finished his 1st year at Oaklands football Academy, playing for Royston in the Prem Southern and the odd game for Moneyfields next season and is trying to work out what he wants to do next.

Upsides and downsides of the pandemic

I thought it was worth a separate thread for this.

I am looking at it from a present/future position. And also from a global, societal, and personal position. Macro and micro, if you like.

Let's take out the distress that many have suffered and the loss of loved ones, and even those with long term covid affects. Let's also ignore the political shenannigans and the blame game.

Science have come up trumps. The fast track vaccine programs have had widespread benefits in lots of other areas.

Trump was removed for a much softer President who seems to be doing just fine.

The world of work seems to have changed for the better for a good number of people.

I think the economic picture looks a lot better than it did a year ago. At least on a macro level.

I also think we learnt a lot about ourselves - that there really is a chasm between those that have sacrificed and stepped up for the benefit of others, and those that really couldn't give a feck. It is strangely a double edged sword that one. Life affirming and utterly depressing at the same time.

I am not sure that environmental benefits will be seen much beyond the medium term. It alarms me that China are building so many nuclear plants when the rest of the world seems to be decommissioning. It is as though they are just sticking two fingers up. There doesn't seem to have been any accord reached between NATO countries and China and Russia. Brasil or at least that twat of a president have used the pandemic to rape the Amazon at will because no one was watching. And reduced plastic pollution seems to have been replaced with discarded masks.

I think there are many 'elephant in the room' questions for world leaders and investigative reporters. And there is a distinct lack of honesty. Why are India sending missions into space when they can't take care of their own people? Why does every investigation into the source of this outbreak end up with nations just calling each other liars?

Messi vs Ronaldo

This thread isn't me discussing who is best, quite the opposite actually.

Why do so many people seem to care who is best out of the two? Why do people get offended when you say "Ronaldo is better than Messi" or vice versa? I do not understand. It's like a weird cult.

Can't people just accept that they're both absolutely amazing players, and we are lucky to be able to witness both playing at the same time?

This is something I have always found weird, so just thought I would make a thread about it.

Global Football Alliance

Some interesting news.

Crystal Palace Football Club has today joined the Global Football Alliance, a network of 16 clubs from six continents who have united to share ideas and expertise.

The Global Football Alliance is a strategic partnership between clubs in 16 different countries, who are not directly in competition with each other. They will establish an international scouting and recruitment network, optimize training and sports performance, increase revenue and promote digital innovation through regular communication, meetings and conferences.

Crystal Palace will be the only English Club in the Global Football Alliance, which will ultimately consist of 25 clubs from 25 countries. It will focus on research and development, using technology and data to give member clubs a competitive advantage on and off the field.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “We are delighted to be joining the Global Football Alliance. Whilst we are proud of our status as a community football club, we are ambitious about extending our global footprint.

"Sharing resources and information from like-minded clubs around the world will ensure we benefit from the best ideas in global football and help us to forge invaluable new relationships”.

Global Football Alliance founder Bernard Caiazzo said: “Global Football Alliance brings together clubs from six continents to share best practices, find synergies and reflect on the future of football.

"We will ask what global football will look like in 10 years and how can we contribute to a better future. Crystal Palace FC will be an important addition to the alliance, highlighting its focus on innovation and modern football practices”.

The 15 other members of the Global Football Alliance are:

AS Saint Etienne, France
Associacao Chapeconese De Futebol, Brazil
Athletic Club Paradou, Algeria
AZ Alkmaar, Netherlands
Club Estudiantes De La Plaza, Argentina
Deportivo Independiente Medellin, Colombia
Deportivo Toulca FC, Mexico
FK Krasnodar, Russia
Kawaski Frontale, Japan
Melbourne Victory, Australia
New England Revolution, USA
Standard De Liege, Belgium
Villarreal, Spain
VFL Wolfsburg, Germany

Whyteleafe FC

Club statement explains that the "new owners of the Church Road ground refused to negotiate a new lease or licence agreement with the club for the 2021-22 season."

Whyteleafe have announced that they have withdrawn from the Pitching In Isthmian League. They have released the following statement:

'It is with deep regret and sadness that we informed the Isthmian League earlier today that Whyteleafe FC will not be playing in next season’s Isthmian South Central League.

The club has been forced to give up its Step 4 status after new owners of the Church Road ground refused to negotiate a new lease or licence agreement with the club for the 2021-22 season.

Home to the Leafe for more than 60 years, Church Road was purchased by Irama last year at auction after the previous owners went into administration.

Despite numerous attempts by the Trustees, current management committee and an independent fan led group to discuss a way forward, Singapore based property development company Irama – the new landlords - activated a break clause to terminate the club’s lease on July 31st this year.

This was despite the club paying Irama nearly £50,000 of back rent that the new owners had been told by the administrators was due for the administration period. Whyteleafe didn’t believe this was the case as the club had been paying all the landlords’ costs during that period to keep the ground viable and to protect the value of the facility.

But Whyteleafe FC believed Irama were acting in good faith and also wanted to have an ongoing working relationship with the new owners and despite the lack of income during the Covid-19 lockdowns paid the back rent.

Our withdrawal from the Isthmian League is a devastating blow to everybody involved at the club, the fans, players local community and the wider football family. We would like to thank all of you.'

More information when we have it.

As someone who follows non league football I find this very sad.

Chevron Vs Donzinger

Don't know if there is a thread on this but below is a Jimmy Dore excerpt about Steve Donzinger, the lawyer who has been waging a David/ Goliath legal battle against Chevron ever since he won a class action lawsuit in the 1990s, for deadly corporate pollution in South America. Ever since, he has been targeted for retribution by the corporation, using crony lawyers and judges who have broken all legal precedence in penalizing Donzinger. The guy is under house arrest the last 600 days because he refuses to have confidential client communications seized by Chevron. The judge is burying him as a coercive measure but Donzinger won't be cowed.

Anyway, I thought this would make a great 'Erin Brockovich' style film and now see it's being made by Brad Pitt, who brought the rights a few years back. Hopefully, this will bring such a scale of public scrutiny that Chevron will be shamed into calling off the corrupt legal dogs.

Yet incredible to see how the legal system can be weaponized by the elites and how the New York Times, supposedly a bastion of Left-Wing 'justice,' ignores this crucial story of corporate malfeasance and legal corruption while simultaneously promoting stories preaching Woke agendas to indicate they really 'care.'

Anyway, good old Jimmy is talking about this and the general corruption of a Left which no longer really cares about poor people when they have Wokeism to stay politically relevant and pretend to be distinct from Republicans.

Celtic melt down.

I've never posted in this part of the forum before. However being more or less 50 pct Australian after 40 years here. I think some of the funniest most amusing yet totally over-the-top delusional reaction to their place in the footballing world is the reaction Celtic fans are having to Ange Postecoglou being named their manager.

It's like they've been knifed in their football heart for a great number of them.

Universally in Australia from all quarters including other footballing codes he is regarded as one of the greatest sports leaders this country has ever produced. Creating and changing cultures in every club he has been at. Turning them from average into champions. Including the Australian national team. He is possibly Australias greatest football export... including Cahill, Kewell, Bosnich, Veduka et al.

So here's to you Ange.... Show them what you're made of.

Europe is going to benefit from your presence.

In 2 years time, Celtic may well be a major force in Europe once more, if he continues what he has always done.

G7

Looking at the photoshoot from the G7 why are the EU included?

When including them, why do they have 2 representatives when all the nations have 1? Effectively Germany, Italy and France all have 3 people at the summit to represent them!

Any sensible reason for this?

I see there's going to be a competition for towns to be awarded City status to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. Sexual harrassment "normalised" in schools say OFSTED

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Quote:

It found around nine in 10 of the girls spoken to by inspectors said that sexist name-calling and being sent unwanted explicit pictures or videos happened "a lot" or "sometimes".

Children said sexual violence typically occurred in unsupervised spaces outside of school, like parties or parks.

Pupils in several schools said harmful sexual behaviour happens at house parties, without adults present, and that alcohol and drugs are often involved.
Now, I do wonder what school these people went to, but they seem to think that this adolescent sex stuff is brand new. I went to school in the 80's and 100% this was exactly the same, if not worse, than what they are saying now. The only difference is that nobody had a smart phone and the internet so the naked selfies would be flashing I guess, and the porno a good old copy of Razzle.

I can only assume from this that poor Chief inspector Amanda Spielman didn't get fingerbanged at a school disco.

EDIT sorry about the spelling error in the title, oh well.

What is the fuss about Graham Potter?

mardi 8 juin 2021

Narrowly avoided the drop two seasons running, with a team that has the 10th highest net transfer spend in Europe over the last five years, and one home win in an entire calendar head.

Yes, the football might be pretty (if you don’t mind watching sitters being missed every week) but the results have been poor by most standards. He looks like one of those managers who is clever but ineffective.

So why does everyone rave about him, and why is he amongst the favourites at Everton and Spurs?

It reminds me of when Brighton thought Buckley was better than Wilf?

Suggestion: Ruben Neves

Young, can pass, can take free-kicks. Perfect for us ;)

The Offensive Podcast

Does anybody listen?

I am absolutely obsessed with it. It's a mockumentary podcast following the ever-present Premier League club based in Kent: Ashwood City.

It is fantastic but, comes with a very strict parental warning due to language and content.

Some very clever and subtle football jokes as well as the expected more expected "banter" style piss-taking of various players/managers/clubs etc.

2 years of Westminster voting intention polling - an analysis

I thought it would be worthwhile looking back at the polls in more detail going back two years or so. I am using the “Politico” poll of polls, and have repeated the link throughout this post for convenience, as it is rather long. NB: You have to select the "2 Year" option tab at the top of the chart for the purpose of the text below.

This is the best reference for comparison purposes as it averages out all the polls and eliminates the outliers. This takes us back to July 2019. Firstly, in early July, we may have all forgotten, but there were surprisingly four parties with a more or less equal share of the vote. On July 23rd 2019, Labour was at 23%, the Tories on 22%, Reform UK(ex UKIP) on 21%, and the Lib Dems on 19%. We can surely assume that by combining the RFUK with the Tory vote we have largely those who wanted to get Brexit done, providing 43% of the vote.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

The RFUK party, at least in my view, existed as a pressure group party to ensure the Tories did not sway away from leaving the EU, or negotiate a BINO. Corbyn’s Labour was not doing well compared to their historical average share, and seemingly, a large chunk of their votes drifted over to the pro remain, LibDems. In other words, it was all about Brexit. Corbyn’s wooly policy on this, didn’t help Labour either. How much of the drift amounted to a dislike of Corbyn back then, we can never know. All we can know is that in the post election and doorstep feedback surveys, Brexit and a dislike of Corbyn were the top two reasons for people voting the way they did.

By the end of July that year, the Tories began to retrieve votes back from RFUK, as Johnson was elected the new Tory leader, and on a strong get Brexit done ticket. Labour and the LibDem’s vote were virtually unchanged.

By the 2019 December general election however, the Tory’s had re-gained nearly all of the RFUK switchers, and the latter was hardly registering on the chart. Labour did regain a chunk of the LibDem vote, but not enough to make much of a difference. The polls showed an average of 44% for the Tories, 32% for Labour, just 12% for the LibDems, and for RFUK just 2%. Clearly in my view, two things happened. Firstly, and its not rocket science I know, Brexit polarised the vote back to the Tories, and secondly, traditional loyalties to Labour when in the polling booths, helped them a bit as the election approached. These poll averages would not reflect tactical voting though, but nevertheless are an indication of the public mood back then.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

So, Labour failed big time, and Corbyn resigned. Tory lead in the polls continued to rise to a heady 51% by the time Starmer was elected in early April 2020. The pandemic and government actions had placed the country on a virtual wartime footing, lockdown was in place, furlough money was being paid, businesses were given grants and loans, people worked from home in their tens of thousands. Labour’s share of the vote between the general election and Starmers appointment remained steady and unimpressive at around an average of 30%, but then something began to change. In the space of the next four weeks, the Tory lead had fallen dramatically, and by the end of September 2020, it had all but gone. We cannot really know why this happened, except that Starmers personal ratings were high, and Johnson’s were low. Johnson’s public approval worsened in the autumn and finally the debacle over family gatherings at Christmas against the background of rising covid cases, he sank to his lowest to date. Labour probably did have a small lead by then.

The cavalry, in the form of the AZ and the Pfizer vaccine roll out heralded a turn in Tory fortunes, and from January this year, when the publicity and images of the elderly getting jabs in their arms, from March their vote share steadied at a level of 42% on average, and remains at that level today. Nothing much happened over this same period with the minor parties' share, all staying low at around between 3%-7%. This increase in Tory share seems to have all come from the Labour side. Note however, that the Tory lead in this poll of polls average has never exceeded 11%. This means that given a floating vote mass of say 10%, it could very easily swing back to favour Labour again.

This post is not to provide light on why Starmer’s Labour is not doing better than it should, but merely to demonstrate how over the last two years, two major unprecedented events can affect public opinion on voting intentions. Look at how Brexit distorted the polls back in the summer of 2019. If you accept that as a truism, and I think the evidence is so compelling as to not be open for debate, then surely, you have to look at the distortions of the pandemic and its current role in the mood of voters.

Peru

lundi 7 juin 2021

A far left candidate battling a far right candidate with 96% of the votes counted there’s about 0.1% between them, Castillo looks to have it won but expat votes could be a spoiler as they are the ones left to count and will probably favour Fujimori.

At least it’s not dull, I’m sure nothing but good manners and respectful conversation on Peruvian BBS’s at the moment. Sunny Fan used to be very knowledgeable about their politics but hasn’t posted in years anyone else to give us a rundown of what’s going on there? Why are they so polarised?

Rumour: Joan Sastre

Have just seen a tweet:

OFFICIAL: Joan Sastre leaves #RCDMallorca to become a new player of the @CPFC .
Today we have to say goodbye to a player who went through all the lower divisions, and who made his club debut in 2014. A lifetime in Mallorca. Thanks for all these years Joan!❤️

That’s the translated version from an account called @rcdmallorca4. Seems to be a news account for Mallorca.

Any Shropshire based fans?

Wasn't sure where to put this but hopefully this'll do.

I've just made the move from the delights of south London to the rolling Shropshire countryside and out of a mixture of When Eagles Dare emotion and the fact I've barely missed a home game for years I've renewed my season ticket for next year.

This is therefore my call to see if there are any other Palace fans out this way, and if there are any who regularly make the journey back to Selhurst Park?

Not sure how I feel about these - on one hand they are convenient, environmentally friendly and cheap. But having seen how some people are using them, at the moment they can also be a dangerous nuisance.

The law says they can currently only be used on private land or off road, but its a pretty regular sight to see people around here driving down the middle of the road on them with no helmets on, and across pavements etc.

They could be good if the govt clarified the rules, rather than the grey area they are in at the moment...anyone got/use one?

u23 final parking ticket.

Feeling a bit peeved about this. Euro car parks have sent me a parking ticket. It appears I exceeded the 3 hour limit in Sainsburys car park on the night of our u23s momentous promotion on Penalties. Silly me When the game went to extra time and penalties it didn't occur to me that wishing to see it through to the end would cost extra money or the car park operators would want to fleece people at that time of the night(bang on10 pm.)All over being there 27 minutes too long, well into the evening. Was anyone else "done" for this and would Britannia chase it. Not like I was denying hoards of Sainsburys customers parking spaces even at 6.30 when I arrived.

Can anyone help me please?

Hi there,
I used to own a Crystal Palace match programme handed down to me by my dad that contained a page dedicated to my grandfather Alan John Nash when he passed away. He was a massive palace fan as all of our family are and he actually had his ashes spread on the pitch. Sadly the programme has been lost and I would love to find it again. I know it was a programme from around maybe Febuary/march/april/may of 1983 ( he passed away in February 1983). If anyone on here has old match programmes and could spare a moment to search through them it would be so appreciated. Just to know which programme it was in so I can search for the right one. Thank you to anyone who can help. And up the palace!

Two for the stattos...

1) How many players have been current internationals when being on Palace's books at that point?

2) how many different nations have our players represented over the years?

I ask because my Luton mate told me that Ruddock-Mpenza's call up for DR. Congo makes him the 56th player to receive international caps whilst being a Hatter.

6 shot lead before the final round! £1.1m prize money. He could have played like me on Morden Park pitch and putt and trousered that cheque.

I wouldn't want to be his cat when he gets home. It will get a boot up its arse.

6th June 1944

Is a date that should never be forgotten, hence my post today.

Of particular relevance to me cos my Dad fought in the campaign but should be of particular importance to everyone else because of why they fought and the liberties we have today as a result.

Was meant to be in Normandy today but for obvious reasons have had to postpone to next year.

Bringing poster's family into arguments

samedi 5 juin 2021

We all use the BBS to piss away time, comment about family, write crap, and even occasionally have decent discussions and heated spats.

There are plenty of ways to tackle a poster you disagree with, or even shame a poster who you perceive to have written something unacceptable.

Posts can be raw, edgy, borderline or outright racist, homophobic, sexist whatever. We can dig out each others perceived flaws and hypocrisies. We can even belittle each others jobs etc..

What I find unnecessary, when we have all those options open to us, is to bring posters family members into it.

They have nothing to do with us as posters, and in many cases have little interest in Palace and even less interest in why we are wasting our time posting here.

I could very well imagine what a wife's reaction would be if she found out that some random on the BBS was slagging her off not knowing her from Eve. She might also wonder what kind of husband posts frequently on a site where that happens.

For me, this is should be a universal no no on the BBS. It doesn't matter f the poster is a much loved UK based contributer, someone living oversees, or even someone who the BBS mostly derides.

It's just not on.

Rumour: Sasa Lukic

Crystal Palace have ‘moved with major insistence’ for midfielder – Player currently ‘evaluating possibilities’
By Tom Coast - 4th June 2021
SHARE

Amid all the media frenzy surrounding the vacant managerial job at Tottenham, it’s easy to forget another London club are without a figurehead: Crystal Palace.

The Eagles watched as Roy Hodgson stepped down from his role with his contract expiring, and they are yet to replace him.

That being said, regardless of who comes in, Crystal Palace still need to think about next season’s squad, with Sasa Lukic among their targets.

That’s according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who explains on Friday that Torino, where the midfielder currently plays, could leave the Serie A club.

The 24-year-old is reported to have ‘many suitors abroad’, among which two ‘appear to have moved with major insistence’: Crystal Palace and Spartak Moscow.

Both destinations apparently interest the player, who will have the choice of either playing in the Premier League or feature in next year’s Champions League with the Russians.

As for Torino in all this, their preference ‘would be to count on the player next season’, but it could come down to Lukic, who is said to be ‘evaluating the possibilities’.

Suggestion: Ryan Christie [Celtic]

jeudi 3 juin 2021

Apparently Ryan Christie could be leaving Celtic this summer, with several EPL clubs interested. I've pushed this guy before having watched him at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and since.

Could be a great No10, part Eze, part Macca, can pick a pass, has a nice shot on him, works hard and harries/tackles well. Part of the Scottish National team too

Price wise wouldn't break the bank

FTP Program for Mac that Moves files - Not Copies

mercredi 2 juin 2021

Hello,

I'm looking for a program for Mac that will move files from my laptop to our office server, rather than copying them, like Filezilla does.

We are a photographic company, and once we have done an event we have to 'offline' our original images - this means to dump them all on the archive server.

The PC laptop users have a program called 'Distribution Manager' which is set up to monitor a folder on their laptop, and once they dump images into there the program grabs them and sends them via FTP to the office server. This program doesn't work for Mac.

So I'm looking for a program that will 'move' the images over, instead of copying. If it copies, and the transfer breaks down, starting again/overwriting can be a pain.

Does anyone know of such a program for Mac?

Thanks.

Seba
