Player Ratings And Reviews: Newcastle (H)

vendredi 27 novembre 2020

Well, another Friday night match, another weekend ruined. Son's crying, thanks.

Guaita 5 - One more game to prove himself or get Butland involved.

Clyne 6 - Looked shaky at first, never seems to get the ball when he overlaps. Yet to see him cross it into our boss successfully since his return. Ward had the same problem tbf.
Cahill & Dann 5 - Just didn't work tonight. Wilson is tricky but to let Joelinton score I mean FFS....
PVA 5 - At least he can cross. I think if he is on his way out it might be time to get Mitchell more experience.

Eze 7 - Bright in the first half, faded towards the end.
McArthur 6 - Another McArthur type performance.
Kouyate 6 - Probably our biggest threat from midfield.
Townsend 6 - Distinctly average Andross again.

Schlupp 6 - Nippy and good power and technique in his shooting but it should have been a Belgian starting up top today.
Ayew 6 - Clever ball carrying up the pitch and free kick taking as per. Never seems to be too close to the six yard box when he should be though.

Ref 8 - Quite good tbf, denied them advantage quite a few times. Didn't have to book too many players.

Newcastle 5 - Hard to watch and a similar style to us but in Wilson have a player that is smart and a battler and looks like he might actually ******* score when he takes a shot.

Really gotta hope WIlf's paternity leave is over by Sunday week at Midday.

I feel a little sorry for Roy tonight funnily enough. Darlow bothered to goalkeep today but Guaita is clearly off in the summer and not bothered.

At 75 mins I thought at least we should muster our first clean sheet in a long a time and Newcastle look even ropier than us.

At 80 mins, I though fair play Roy - you are going for it once and have corrected your very bizarre formation of the last 15mins.

Then we concede from a a Newc throw-in from their half, ample chances to prevent it but we open up like the Grand Canyon, then somehow display yet worse defending to concede the second. Their second was scored by a striker that looked even less likely to score than Benteke tonight.

We just have to hope the bottom three remain well off the quality. We really need to get a win at the Hawthorns now. Nasty set of fixtures through Xmas and New Year.

Now we actually have some depth Roy doesn't seem to understand to pick those in form and shows too much loyalty to the old guard.

With so many players out of contract do you overall the team or the manager. At the moment, player power might have the edge, Roy's age may count against him. Sad way for him to bow out of his managerial career at his home club. No stand out up-and-coming replacement for Roy at the mo though.
