So following the meltdown of the incomings (or lack of) and departure of AWB this summer I thought i'd take a look at when the current individuals in the squads contracts come to an end. Having had a look I was quite shocked at how many come to an end in 2021. With the reluctance of Luka to sign a new deal is there potential problems on the horizon for us?

With only 12 months remaining we have

When you look at other clubs, the bulk of their key players are tied down to contracts at least until 2022.
One issue we have is a lot of these players are coming into their 30's so will potentially have one last pay day. That may lead to the appeal of leaving on a free transfer and picking up a nice signing on fee. The other being is we clearly can't sustain the wages we're paying to these players and the balance in pay from Wilf to others is too much in my opinion.
The above is largely down to a lack of investment over the previous few seasons in my eyes. Something has to give soon, a massive upheaval in one summer is a risky one in my eyes. But the long term strategy does need to change and probably bodes in well with this well written article from woosie.
