174:

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Buckingham Palace terror trial

An Uber driver, Mohiussunnath Chowdhury, from Luton, who repeatedly shouted ‘Allah Akbar’ while brandishing a four-foot samurai sword, injuring police outside Buckingham Palace, faces retrial after a jury was unable to reach a verdict.

The jury from London fail to reach a majority verdict on the charge of preparing to commit an act of terrorism.

This is the letter that the defendant wrote to his sister that detectives found:
''To my dearest sister, By the time you read this Insha'Allah [God willing] I will be with Allah.”
“Do not cry and be strong. The Shaheed [witness or martyr] will take 70 members of his family with him to paradise. I will take you there Insha'Allah.”
"Tell everyone I love them and that they should struggle against the enemies of Allah …The Queen and her soldiers will all be in the hellfire, they go to war with Muslims around the world and kill them without any mercy.”

Be interesting to know the makeup of the jury.

INCOME TAX QUESTION

vendredi 29 juin 2018

What is the lowest amount you can earn in the UK before you are taxed. I ask because I am in receipt of a small pension, but am getting what I think is a hefty wack of tax. Any accountants out there.

How far will we go? (End of group stage poll)

How far will we go?

How does one trouser £300million in 'the right way' ?

Well ?

What is the secret ?

How does one benefit from such a sum whilst maintaining a spit-through veneer of being some modern day Cinderella.

It's an entirely reasonable question and one that has failed to be even be considered by the fist pumping, dual supporting, Hazard-obsessed, "fans".

The fact remains that the Penguin slotted you lot £300 Million (Three Hundred Million) and you think that's ok .

Notwithstanding, your timely submitted accounts, they still appear to suggest that, despite the gargantuan investment, BHAFC (2011), remains a non-viable going concern.

Apologies for not being able to reconcile such a huge capital injection, even by today's metrics, with you lot walking around like modern day paragons of virtue. It's like butter wouldn't melt in your measly mouths.

Joan of Arc, you ain't. Not even a proper, pony Ultravox.

Repayment ? Nah, Tony does not **apparently** [your words not mine] require any return on such a substantial investment despite being such a shrewd and commercially astute business man - otherwise how would one amass such a fortune ?

However, it appears that he is quite intent on bullying locals to support planning applications of ancillary developments in/around the Penguin Dome.

Let's have it right, your nomadic lifestyle is a direct result of no one giving a rat's arse about your club. I, along with the rest of Western civilisation, must have missed the much vaunted mass protests to save your club. Actually, all that happened was a "fan" coined the meagre £ from a book based on the land of make believe ten years after Buck Fizz.

Even taking due account that "footy", "soccer" or whatever was only invented in Brighton in 2011, the first away team to win will always be Crystal Palace (2010) Ltd. Entirely apt, I am sure that you will agree.

Still, the days of people being locked out of the Withdean are but a mere distant memory, yet despite eventually getting promoted**, Glenn Murray, left for pastures new. At least you got your own back when you jeered him in the Play Off Semi Final 1st Leg. (FFS).

In summary, f*ck Br*ghton and all who sail in her.

**Substantial losses/FFP liability not assessed in the Championship

Things you love about the summer.

Sitting in a beer garden

Detectorists...

Are there any on here that do metal detecting as a hobby?
Just made the leap into some decent equipment after deciding to slow down my fishing. The 'sport' has always been around me, as a kid my Dad used to do it and occasionally take me along. I mainly find coins and bullets (fired and unspent 303's), musket balls, loads of bottle tops and pull rings.
So, any detectorists out there and if so, have you ever found anything decent or unusual?

What's your favourite summer tipple?

Well?

Here's mine...

Gin and Tonic, Thatchers Gold, and recently I've been enjoying Hop House 13. A lot.

Ed Sheeran sued over Marvin Gaye's Let's Get

Ed Sheeran is being sued for $100m over Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On.

It's alleged the singer ripped off sections of the 1973 classic for his number one hit Thinking Out Loud.

Legal documents in the US allege it copies "the melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bass line, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping".

I've had a listen and really can't see where they think its 'ripping off'. Chord progression is the same but then there are numerous songs which shared the same chord progression but have different melodies.

Sounds as if the're asking for $100m but hoping for a payoff of $1m just to go away.

Happy Birthday Stellavista

Have a good one.

Shame you had to ask though.

In Employment law, where do I stand on being transferred?

I was working in IT for WPP - and was tupee'd over to be an IBM Employee.

They just finished another 'downsizing' project - and I survived that, to now find they want to Tupee me again to another company that does there freelance IT staff.

Now during the previous downsizing project - they gave the option for voluntary redundacy - but I did not take it. If I knew they were going to do this - I would have taken the option as I would have got 14 years worth of redundancy cash (only statutory though - but better than nothing).

They are arranging meetings for next week - but the whole thing is to be completed by August. Its a done deal.

The vague details I have been told by the others so far is that my title would change to 'Central point of Contact' from IBM Campus Lead. Also the pension is not as good.

Other questions I will have to ask when I have the meeting - but If I don't want to be transferred - I assume I have to resign and work my three months notice. What other options do I have ?

Really angry, frustrated, and deflated at the moment.

Pre Season

When are the lads back? I imagine it's Monday but wasn't sure whether the World Cup would push things back this year? I'm starting to get Palace Deprivation syndrome (PDS) World Cup or no World Cup.

Match Updates: Iran v Portugal

lundi 25 juin 2018

Group B

Kick off 19:00
Live on BBC One

At Mordovia Arena

Permutations
  • A point for Spain against Morocco would see them qualify.
  • If the Spanish lose they will go through if Portugal beat Iran or suffer a heavier defeat against Iran, or if that match is a low-scoring draw and Spain lose by no more than one goal.
  • Portugal will qualify with a draw against Iran.
  • If both Portugal and Spain suffer defeats then team with the bigger loss would be eliminated. If they both win then the team with the biggest win will finish top of Group B.
  • The top two teams currently have the same number of points, goal difference and goals scored - they are separated by Fair Play records (Spain have one yellow card and Portugal have picked up two).
  • If all these elements are equal then there will be a drawing of lots to decide their final group positions.
  • Iran will qualify with victory over Portugal - they would win the group unless Spain also won.

Following on from WLYWLYAWYPWFs comments on the choice of music in the backround of this ad, which track(s) would you have used?

A Hard Days Night - Beatles
Knock on Wood - Amy Stewart
My Dingaling - Chusk Berry

Any more?

Possibly available along with Bolasie but we can leave him to the other threads.

I believe we were interested in him before he moved to Everton, would be one we’d have to consider if offered to us imo.

A 3rd Runway at Heathrow - Yes, No, Why?

The debate has only been raging for about half a century. Indeed the whole notion of having any sort of an airport at Heathrow geographically has been disputed for as long.

Now however, the chips are down - a whipped Vote in the House of Commons tonight for outline planning permission for the Government's proposal to build a 3rd runway at Heathrow.

How would you vote if you were an MP, or perhaps put on your anti-democratic ermine and fur, and tell us how you'd cast your undemocratic vote as a Lord ?

This World Cup

We’re heading towards the end of the group stages now. What does everyone think? I’m loving it. I also loved 2014, but thought that near enough the entirety of 2010 was gash.

Been doing some promo work at the Isle of Man festival . I’m pretty cool like that but like to keep it on the down low. Anyway crouchy was there and was chatting to few people around me and was saying how much he loved the music scene in London so I piped up and shouted ‘ come to palace then ‘ he smiled and said ‘ great fans ‘ didn’t get anything else as it all went a bit mental in the mosh pit when Kasabian came on crouchy was loving it .

Anyway reckon this one could be back on.

World Cup kits

vendredi 22 juin 2018

I believe there is some thing they do before major tournaments where teams submit what kits they will wear before each game.

Just some of it seems a little odd, is there some sort of "magic" formula? For example Spain obviously wear Red at Home and Iran play in White, yet the other night Spain wore their Light Blue Away kit and Iran their Red Away kit. Just seemed a little bit odd. Australia wearing Green and Denmark White yesterday was another one.

Cheeky but Clever

I was drinking with a mate last night who lives in a village about 5 miles away who had driven over and was intending to take a taxi home when we left the pub. He had insisted on buying one last, and completely unnecessary, round and then we left.Walking to the taxi rank he realised he didn’t have enough money for the £12 fare home.

His solution? He went to our local Indian and ordered a take away to be delivered to his home and hopped in their delivery car.

Free lift home and a curry supper. :D

Clever.

War Thunder Xbox One

War Thunder is now available to play on Xbox One with the starter pack costing £15.99 in the Xbox Store.

Already there are over 27,000 players online and the game was only released this week.

You can choose to play your game with Air, Land or Sea options all available.

Playing as a pilot you will soon get the hang of how to fly but I would do the tutorials before going into battle.

I have only played as a pilot so far.

This is a vast game with a Campaign mode and randomly generated battles online including an arcade mode.

You start off with basic vehicles but these can be improved and improved upon by ranking up or by purchasing with in-game credits or actual cash better vehicles.

Here is a game overview video link

You can if you wish choose to play cross-platform which then allows you to play with the vast PC community that play the game.

So what have I missed...

I'm trying to catch up with what has happened on here over the last couple of years since I was last active.

So what's the gossip, scandal or news?

Who has flounced?

Who has been banned?

Who has been bullied off by WCB?

Who have had major bust ups?

Who has fallen in love?

What have I missed?

Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse go fishing

Now I am a big fan of the comedy of both, but (and I realise that I risk the opprobrium of out Christchurch correspondent here) I am not at all convinced that this will be a huge hit. And yet, although I have never been a fishist, perhaps the tranquillity, sport and camaraderie of the pastime will prove strangely hypnotic.

Thoughts ?

(And haven't the Brian Pern programmes already parodied "celebrity fishing" programmes ?)

Vamos Cabrones!

Can't see anything but a Germany win, but here's hoping! Mexico side has had very little progression from the last world cup, with Chicharito still up front, Ochoa still in goal and a very familiar midfield of Guardardo, Vela and Herrera.

Germany - well, they have strength and depth in every position.

Top 10 signings since 2010

This is based on a variety of things like performance, transfer fee, wages, consistency and influence so should be quite subjective. Some just pick themselves so 5 seems too few, although admittedly 10 is probably too many.

In order of importance :

1. Zaha
2. Bolasie
3. McArthur
4. Jedinak
5. Ward
6. Murray
7. Sakho (loan)
8. Puncheon
9. Cabaye
10. Dann

Swansea City are interested in signing Norwich City midfielder Ben Godfrey.

The 20-year-old impressed on loan at League One Shrewsbury Town last season.

That form has attracted interest from Premier League side Crystal Palace as well as Swansea and West Bromwich Albion, both of whom were relegated to the Championship.

It is believed the three clubs are weighing up bids of around £3m for Godfrey who is able to play in defence as well as midfield.

He has made only six appearances for Norwich since joining from York City in 2016 but is highly regarded at Carrow Road.

Swansea are yet to make their first signing of the summer following the appointment of new manager Graham Potter earlier this month.

Damp proofing recommendations

No, this isn't related to any pant wetting issues!
As many have before me, I turn to the BBS for some advice and recommendations. I've got damp patches on my bedroom wall, which coincide with the position of an external chimney breast. It's a 1930s built house and the problem only became apparent when we removed some fitted wardrobes and had the wall re-plastered.
I've done some research and this seems a fairly common problem in houses of this age that had real fires burning for years. This causes a change in the brickwork and pointing which draws the damp through into the plaster.
Has anyone here had any experience of this issue or could recommend any companies around West Wickham who could remedy this?
Thanks in advance!

Rumour: PVA to Juve

jeudi 14 juin 2018

To view the link you have to Register or Login

JUVENTUS are planning to make a move from Crystal Palace star Patrick van Aanholt - if Alex Sandro finally completes a move to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has been tracking Brazilian defender Sandro for the past year as he searches for a top-class left-back to add to his squad.

Italian champions Juve have already started planning for the possible departure of the 27-year-old by drawing up a list of potential replacements.

And the player who has emerged as a strong candidate is Palace star Van Aanholt, 27.

The Dutch international has become an integral part of Roy Hodgson's side at Selhurst Park and is seen as a key part of their plans for next season.

But SunSport understands Juventus are preparing a £25million bid for the Palace man should Sandro decide the time is right to leave Turin.

The Italian champions believe Van Aanholt's ability not just defensively but also going forward marks him out as the ideal man to step in to Sandro's shoes.

Palace would have no intention letting the former Sunderland star leave, especially as he has three more years left on his current deal in South-East London.

And the Dutchman has admitted in the past he has settled well in the capital and is enjoying his football at palace.

But the prospect of joining one of Europe's biggest clubs, and playing regular Champions League football, would be something the player may find hard to ignore.

The Serie A champions value the full-back at £52m - and until now Mourinho has been reluctant to go to such a high price.

But he is acutely aware of the need to bring in a quality player in that position, with Ashley Young currently first choice in that position.

England defender Luke Shaw has been trying hard to convince Mourinho he has a long-term future at Old Trafford, but his future at the club remains in doubt.

And the likelihood of a move for Sandro has increased with United cooling their interest in Tottenham left-back Danny Rose.

Crystal Ball First match: Fulham away

I'm a bit bored so what do we think?

Our normal smashing from the newly promoted club due to misplaced arrogance from players and fans before their wheels come off. Or we break with tradition and give them the good shoeing they deserve?

They play 'football' so you'd think that would make it easier to get past them unlike when teams park the bus against us. Though under Roy that problem seems to have gone away too......

A number of changes have been announced to the format of this League Cup & I notice that West Brom are entering at the 1st round stage. Week com. Monday 13th August. The final is on Sunday 24th Feb 2019.

However try as I might I can find no informaion on the dates for the rounds in between!

Palace enter at the 2nd round and this is normally two weeks after the 1st round but this Season that makes it Bank Holiday week.

My question is has anyone on the BBS got info. on the dates of these rounds?

Woman and Ethnic Minorites cannot stand up?

Wasn't sure where to put this as Palace are at the forefront of safe-standing (GPD), if affect all of football (WOF) and it is an utterly insane response from the Government (GCC) but here it is.

For those who didn't sign the petition of haven't seen the email the committee forced the government to change its response to the petition regarding the safestanding issue to be debated in a couple of weeks.

In the new response they try to suggest that the increase in female and ethnic minority supporters attending football matches is a success of all seater stadia. That crowd management is better, and that we are all more comfortable.

They claim enhanced security and policing even though at Selhurst we have zero police.

Fewer reported injuries yet i have only ever picked up injury at a football ground from the plastic seat in front of me - never reported it though.

Finally they suggest that increased attendance at football is a direct consequence of all-seater stadia.

The response is farcical and i would urge all supporters to contact their MP, they all have an email address to make representations ahead of the debate next week.

SNP MPs walk out of PMQs

As yet not sure why exactly as I only caught the moment from just before Ian Blackford, The leader of he SNP in Westminster was ordered to leave the house for the remainder of the day.

I hope it was a justified reaction and not just showboating.

Flight Buying Advice - Globehunters

I am returning to Mexico for Christmas. Looking for cheap flights, one came up through cheapflights.co.uk and then again on skyscanners a lot cheaper. it's through a company called globehunters . Globehunters are offering direct BA flights for a £200 per ticket cheaper than BA direct.

A little googling reveals a whole host of complaints and positive reviews but all the reviews are from first time posters and other posters are saying that the reviews and complaints are bogus.

So I turn to the goodship BBS. Anyone heard of or used globehunters to buy tickets? Do I trust these prices and go ahead and book?

Moving Back Home

Right, so the missus and I have been moving around for months now. We were living in Holmwood for a few years, then recently been renting a temporary flat in Epsom whilst deciding where to live.

She is a school teacher and got a job in Croydon last year and has been finding it difficult to make the travel everyday. I work in Carshalton so it's no problem for me personally.

Now, we both grew up in Croydon, me South Croydon, her Selsdon, and we have discussed the possibility of moving back to Croydon. The only problem for me is that Croydon is a very different place to 20 years ago, as I've seen on way to Palace games and visited family, but I'm not sure where the best areas are nowadays.

So I thought I'd ask you guys where the best areas are and the worst (apart from Thornton Heath) to live and potentially school the kids.

Thanks,

Steve

First & Best WC memories

vendredi 8 juin 2018

Not specifically related to WC 2018 so Mods, feel free to move it as needed.

Ahead of next Thursday’s kick off, what are your First World Cup memory & Best World Cup memory?

First: Scotland getting done over by Peru, 1978. I was 9 & watched this at a relative’s house. There was a thunderstorm & they said they might have to turn the TV off.....

Best: Italia 90. Gazza’s tears. World in Motion. First finals I watched from a pub. How my celebrating Scottish mate got out of the pub alive after the SF penalty shootout defeat, I will never know....

A winter break

A winter break for the EPL. Its a Martin Glenn production so what can possibly go wrong.

Personally I like winter football, its a great leveller although not so much in the Prem anymore with the way they look after pitches. Still we can't have those millionaires running about when its cold.

Premier League to introduce Winter Break.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Good news?

"Premier League clubs will have a winter break in February from the 2019-20 season, the Football Association has announced.

The break will be staggered across two weeks, with five matches on the first weekend and five the following weekend.

The FA Cup fifth round will be moved to midweek to accommodate the break, with replays being scrapped at that stage."

Relegation odds 18/19

Cardiff 8/11
Huddersfield 6/5
Fulham 6/4
Watford 2/1
Brighton 2/1
Burnely 4/1
Bournemouth 5/1
Palace 11/2
West Ham 6/1
Newcastle 6/1
Wolverhampton 6/1
Southamptpon 7/1
Leicester 14/1

Interesting view to take from the bookies. Making Newcastle and Southampton as less likely to struggle than us.

The standout odds seem to be the confidence Wolves doing well.

Presumably Burnley are seen as likely to find juggling europe and prem hard work.

Nightclub owner Peter Stringfellow has died at the age of 77, a spokesman has said.

The businessman, who had cancer which he had kept private, died in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The so-called King of Clubs opened many venues around the world and his eponymous club in London's West End became a magnet for celebrities.

The Beatles, The Kinks and Jimi Hendrix were among those he booked in his six decades in the industry.

His family have asked for privacy. He leaves behind a wife, Bella, and four children.

Clattenburg in today's Mail-June 6th on Palace

Article in the main talking about his career and impending arrival on the ITV World Cup panel.

On 2016 cup final: it is the one match he wishes he could re-referee more than any other "it just didn't work out in the crutial moments. I wasn't happy with myself. And that stays with you for days, you're miserable at home as well

On palace fans: " but it was palace as well, and their fans had a thing about me."
"I had 13 games with them in the Premier league and they never got a win. I remember they played Aston Villa when they were rock bottom. I thought "great, this could be the end of it "
Then Wayne Hennessey threw one in and Villa won 1-0. I thought "this run is just jinxed!"

Suggestion: Big sale possibly looming at Villa

With their financial troubles possibly escalating towards administration there maybe a chance to revenge clubs savaging us in the past.

Kodjia/Adomah could make a decent back up for Zaha/Townsend

James Chester could be a decent replacement for Delaney

Conor Hourihane could provide decent competition in the middle

No wonder their wage bill has escalated beyond control, looking at their squad it is full of journeyman premier league players (not including Mile)

Liverpool want a bigger share of the cash.

Important this for us. Essentially Liverpool and the 'big' clubs want a larger share of the International television rights.

They already get more of the UK TV cash (based on where you finish) but now they want a larger share of the equally split overseas TV cash.

I think this is key as this extra income does give us any everybody else a fighting chance.

Neville Southall. What a top bloke.

This should be a stress-free day back on Merseyside for the former Everton and Wales footballer, who was arguably the world’s best goalkeeper for a while in the 1980s, as he takes a break from his consuming job at a special needs school in Ebbw Vale. Before he became a celebrated footballer, Southall had been a hod-carrier, a binman and a cleaner. So it is not surprising that, aged 59, he should now work at a pupil referral unit – offering education for children excluded from mainstream schools.

Ok so he played for Everton and Wales......but what a top bloke.

France bans public big screen zones for World Cup

lundi 4 juin 2018

Amid fears they could they could become a target for terror attacks.

"The French Interior Ministry said in a statement: “I remind all publicly-elected officials of the fact that “big screen” zones are completely forbidden in public spaces.

“In the current climate of terrorist threats, the security procedures used at the last European Championship must be deployed again, with the same degree of efficiency.”

Perhaps we might see the same ban here although I dont remember there being many public screenings over here. I could be wrong.

This is a good thing I think. It already pretty much happens in Crawley, where I think that all test routes take you on to the A23 towards Brighton immediately after the M23 ceases, and it’s still 3 lanes. You’re only on there for about a mile and then you exit.

With any luck, in the coming years we may see a reduction in the amount of infuriating middle lane bellends.

New Palace Minute: Royal Variety Performance 2018

Supporting Katerina

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Hope you all enjoy my latest Palace Minute offering. Been doing this nonsense for eight years now believe it or not, and have had so much enjoyment making them. It has never been my intention to profit from them – the pleasure has come from all the very kind comments and appreciation they have received.

However, my personal situation is such that I’ve decided to use the Palace Minute to raise funds for my three year old daughter Katerina who has Fragile X Syndrome. In summary, it’s a genetic disorder that causes a wide range of learning, emotional and behavioural challenges. Medical science now are very clear on the causes of Fragile X, and there is now a lot of work and research going on all over the world to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure.

One of the world’s leading specialists in Fragile X, is a neurodevelopmental doctor in California. We flew Katerina out to be assessed by her last December, and she has set up a treatment plan that she believes will have a positive impact on her future. Unfortunately, this is not something she can access here in the U.K due to lack of funding concerning research into the condition.

Early intervention is absolutely essential in these disorders in order to make a real difference to the future of children affected; and so as a family, we are taking the big step and travelling back to the States to receive this specialist medical treatment and therapy. We have been in touch with other families who have undertaken similar intervention from this doctor and medical centre, and have all reported back very positively about the differences it’s made to their children affected with Fragile X.

Although it is a massive upheaval and huge financial consideration, me and Mrs Bubbs feel we can’t let this opportunity to make a real difference to Katerina pass us by. So, hence, using my Palace animation to try and fund the large medical bills, travel costs and living expenses while out in the States. We would hate to look back in 10 years time and think we missed a chance to make a real difference to our daughter’s life.

Creating a fundraising page has not been an easy decision, as asking for help does not feel comfortable for me; but I realise that my daughter’s welfare and well-being is what is most important… and anyway, Mrs Bubbs said she’d kill me if I didn’t put to good use the ‘hours and hours’ spent making these ‘childish’ animations for you ‘sad sad’ people, to help our daughter. :D

Please know, there is absolutely no obligation to contribute – the fact this and the other ‘Minutes’ have hopefully made you chuckle over the years has been enough for me. But if you are able to donate, no matter how small, we as a family will be truly and massively grateful.

Thank you

Nick Timotheou (Bubbs)

Best source for 4k films

I have a very nice 4k TV and I'm getting a little frustrated that I'm not getting the most out of it as the majority of the content I play through it isn't 4k.

I did have Netflix 4k for a while, but the content is rather limited here in Switerland so the extra cost didn't seem worth it.

At the moment, Amazon Prime app is not working on LG TV.

Google Play Movies only allows 4k through the Chromecast 4k hardware.

Apple Movies only allows it through their 4k player.

Rakuten TV app seems to be very amateurish

Ultraflix doesn't seem to be available outside the US

I'm getting close to going back to torrenting at this rate...

Anyone have any better ideas? If I went for a player, as far as I understand it, Xbox One wins hands down for Blu-ray 4k playback? Which is a shame as game content wise it looks to be losing to the PS4...

Cycling to work

I am thinking about cycling half way to work and picking up a train for the final bit of my commute. I don't need to worry about any size bike on the train as they are allowed and the Times of my commute mean the train is never packed.

I will only be cycling about 5 miles to the train station cutting through a gravel pathed park for less than 1/2 a mile.

Are fold up bikes any good for 10 miles a day? Halfords said they were but the tyres and frame just look flimsy compared to a hybrid.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Eradication of homophobia is important within the game but it is unfair to enforce people to do something if it conflicts with their beliefs. It is fascist in itself that people cant believe want they want, and that a certain belief has power over another one to the point where you can be shamed. If there is no choice other whether you want to support, a what is suppost to be a progressive movement, it will just be a sham and create resentment which will undermine it.
