Where did it all start to unravel?

dimanche 5 février 2017

I am really interested to hear peoples opinions on where they think such a promising period in our history i.e. finishing 10th in 2015 all started to go wrong.( I know we were 3rd in 1991 but since then 2015 was our best year.)

I've been a regular since 1968 so can look back and see obvious reasons for meltdown such as the Venables chaos in 1980, the insanity of Goldberg in 1998 , not investing in the Jan window in 2005 but this situation baffles me.

The board have invested heavily,( yesterday Parish said that he believed this to be the strongest squad ever) the fans remain loyal sold out every week, you could argue that on one hand we've never been in better shape, but the reality is it is turning into a nightmare.

From my perspective I think it all started to go wrong when the core of our team started to get dismantled for players who were no better e.g Murray, then Bollasie became unhappy early last year,(knowing he was on half the wages of Sako) , and Wilf and him were the centre of everything we did., and that style has not been replaced and I wouldn't mind betting Wilf is unhappy as him and Bollasie are very good mates.

So in conclusion, from my perspective only, we dismantled the amazing spirit that got us up kept us up and entertained us and made the same mistakes as QPR i.e throwing money at average overpaid players.

As I said I am interested to hear other peoples views on just where it started to go wrong.
