Old School London Pubs

mercredi 3 août 2016

There may well be a thread about this topic already, apologies if so.

I live in Brixton, have done for 4 years now. Over that time alone, I've seen it turn from a rough & ready, slightly trendy place into a place now full with wine bars & Tarquins all over the shop. Even the Brixton I moved into in 2012 would've bee unrecognisable to those who knew it from 5, 10, 15 years ago.

However, if you look hard enough, there's still some great old school boozers tucked away. I used to live 30 seconds away from a pub called the Marquis Of Lorne & ended up there on Friday night. It's fecking brilliant - dart board, pool table, locals at the bar who have seen it all & are happy to tell you to **** off if you're getting too loud, a duke box with the Pogues, Fine Young Cannibals, Crowded House, etc. The landlord is a Palace fan as well.

Anyway, anyone else still have locals like this? In between the gastro pubs with creches, showing Peppa Pig on one screen & the football on the other? Or are they a dying breed?
