Hi, advice and tips requested for the following please.
Next summer wifey and I are intending to drive to Bulgaria for our summer holiday with our dogs. We have an apartment in Bansko, so intend to be there in early August for the annual Jazz Fest. This year we missed out being there and consequently missed seeing Joss Stone and Shakatak. Yes I did say Joss Stone and it was free to see her.
We intend to cross the channel to either Calais or Dunkirk. Tips to avoid the problems of the Jungle would be useful.
At the moment we are planning to take 3/4 days to get there (1,500 miles from Calais). Going via France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and finally Bulgaria.
Continental insurance cover for the car includes all those countries except Serbia (we need a green card for Serbia).
Our pet insurance doesn't cover Serbia, as we are only passing through Serbia, this shouldn't be a problem.
Can anyone provide (sensible) tips or advice on what to expect? I've driven in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Bulgaria so know what to expect.
Will be new to Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, but don't expect any problems. Serbia is probably the biggest worry (Border crossing, state of roads etc).
Can I use credit cards/debit cards in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia as they have their own currencies and I don't intend to obtain their currencies. I will have Euros, Sterling and Bulgarian lev on me.
Going end of July to mid August. So may miss first game or two of next season.
Thanks in advance
