At the weekend, John Hartson was asked on 5Live what kind of player he felt Palace needed. He responded with Benteke's name and quickly shot down the host when he suggested there was no chance. Hartson said Liverpool would take a financial hit on Benteke now to get him off their books and thinks that Palace would be the perfect club for him. He added that Klopp doesn't rate him so whats the point hanging onto him? May as well take a £10m loss now.
I'm probably reading between lines and I doubt Hartson has any inside info but it was interesting to here how certain he was that this was the right deal for both clubs.
