Player Ratings And Reviews: Norwich (away)

samedi 8 août 2015

Normally it's all about the performance at the start of the season, but actually I feel that with the fixtures we have coming up, and the starts we have had in our last 2 seasons, that a result here was priceless to give us momentum and have us looking up the table rather than down it. Did we deserve the win? Questionable, and Norwich can rightly feel aggrieved.

Mccarthy 5 I'd like to give him 6 to stop the criticism, but I can't. He was at fault for the goal (very slow to get down to the ball). I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it is an error he has repeated from pre-season. His kicking was dreadful too, he didn't give the centre backs confidence and the only solace he can take from the game is that he made a few good saves.

Souare 7 Accomplished - speed, skill, winning free-kicks. Looks a top quality player, and only positionally are there any question marks over him
Delaney 6 Not commanding, but scored and he was fine
Dann 6 Fine, but not commanding.
Ward 7 Thought he was good

Mccarthur 7.5 Excellent - good assist and worked hard
Cabaye 7 Pulled the strings in first half. Quieter in the second until the goal. Undoubted class
Mutch 6.5 felt he did well. Unlucky not to score - struck it well, but his shot was straight at the keeper

Zaha 7 A threat throughout and excellent finish
Puncheon 8 MOM - assist, and involved throughout. Excellent start.

Murray 6 Led the line well

Subs

Bolasie 7 Lively, and good link up play and shot
Jedinak 5 caught wrong side too much for me
Wickham N/A but apart from the blatant shove that should have been a pen for them he linked up well in his brief cameo

Pardew 7 A good 3 points against a Norwich side with pace and an excitable crowd. They will survive IMHO. Bring on the Arsenal, for a better indication of how we will do this season :lux:
