Can Palace catch Spurs?

dimanche 12 avril 2015

Now, im not one to make threads, but I didn't see one about this, so I thought i'd make a go of it...

I've had a little look at Tottenham's fixture list, and although they have Newcastle away, and hull at home, the other four games, you could easily see them losing;

Southampton away, Man City home, Stoke away, and Everton away.

That's four away games, against arguably, on-form, very diffcult opponents to play against, no easy games, that's for sure.

Now a BIG if, but, if Palace could continue this form for another 6 games, and say pick up 5 wins and a loss, or 4 wins and 2 draws, AND Tottenham drew or lost the two easier games (Newcastle away, and Hull at home) and lost the 4 more difficult games, then Palace would surely finish 7th, according to a reasonable league predictor I utilized earlier, with Tottenham on 54/55/56 points, and Palace on 56/57/60 points, and probably with a better goal difference aswell.

While I realise this might seem dream like stuff, after all we were in the bottom three on new years day I believe! If Palace win the next two very winnable fixtures in West Brom and Hull, and Newcastle get something out of spurs at St James Park, and Southampton do the business against them the following week, then that would leave a six or seven point gap with 4 games to play, a much more realistic proposition than the current 12 point gap, very do-able!

Of course, then Palace have chelsea away, then Man United at home, and Liverpool away, but if Palace can pick up five points, or more there, somehow, and ride through that 3 match tough spot, then the Swansea game could be MASSIVE!

Europa League here we come! ;)
