Just thought i'd run this past the good ship BBS to see if anyone has heard of this before and if it's legit...
My elderly mother owns and lives in a leasehold downstairs one bedroom flat in South London. She has to pay a yearly ground rent on the property and an annual service charge of £600 to a property management company.
I was looking at the breakdown of the yearly service charge for the whole building and other occupants; and in amongst the anticipated expenditure of accountancy, insurance premium, repairs, management fees...there is a payment for 'terrorism cover'??????
I must admit; i'm not the most clued up when it comes to the whole property/finances game, but is this normal? Is it - as I suspect - yet another charge plucked from thin air to legally pilfer more money from their customers?
