After some help/advice.
My 55' plate VW Golf GT-TDi recently had a new torque converter/flywheel after the old one died. I took it to a garage in Redhill to have the new part fitted. All was good. New part in the car, and £906 out of my pocket.
But now, in fact in driving it home from the garage, it appears to have developed a rather odd droning noise above 15mph which becomes louder at 50mph. I took it back to the same garage today and they spent an hour and a half trying to diagnose the problem and locate the noise. They decided that it may well be coming from the gearbox and that as the car is still performing well to leave it and see how it develops. To say I am not satisfied with this diagnosis and suggestion is an understatement.
So what now? Get a second opinion from another garage? Perhaps an Automatic Specialist somewhere?
Any help would be hugely appreciated. I'm a freelancer and my car is my second office. The last thing I need is for it to break down on the way to a job.
