Communal TV Aerial - Leasehold Question

mercredi 19 mars 2014

Hello all,

Wonder if anyone had any idea on where I stand with this.

We live in a 14 flat building. The Sky TV for everyone, which goes through communal distribution, broke a couple of weeks ago.

The first time the management company attempted to get this fixed, they thought it was to do with the distribution unit, but they didn't manage to get it fixed. The same day they looked at this, my freeview in the lounge stopped working, but carried on working on the bedroom. The freeview just plugs into the aerial point in the wall, which directly goes into the distribution system.

I e-mailed them asking them to check the connections etc, to make sure something wasn't knocked loose. They replied asking if I still had the issue, to which I said yes (so I'm assuming they didn't actually check anything, but just checking before going further)

Their reply to this was, it looks like it is an internal issue, as no-one else has the issue.

Basically, I have tested a freeview box, the freeview built into the TV, and also used the coax cable from the bedroom (which is 100% working), but still have the issue.

So, the only issues now can be: the TV Aerial wallplate, which goes directly to the distribution system, some kind of issue with the cabling in-between my flat and the distribution system, or the distribution system itself.

Even if it is the wallplate, I would be reluctant to play around with this due to the fact that it goes directly to the distribution system.

The management company have said that if I were to get an engineer to look at the issue, and the problem is not with me, they are not willing to pay for the engineer!

Where do I stand??
