Apologies if there's an existing thread.
I spent most of my youth growing up in Fort Neef after moving from bang 'ole as a toddler and I loved it there. It was rough back then but nothing like it is now.

Here's hoping and praying that the baby makes it.

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Rumour: Charlie Austin

From To view the link you have to Register or Login

Southampton’s £8m striker Charlie Austin to spark four-way transfer scramble with both Aston Villa and Crystal Palace keen.

CHARLIE AUSTIN is an £8million target for FOUR clubs - with bids getting launched this week.

Southampton have decided Austin can leave the club this summer and are waiting for offers to come in.

Aston Villa and Crystal Palace both want to keep the 29-year-old in the Premier League next season.

While Fulham and West Brom are also prepared to meet Southampton's asking price to make Austin part of their Championship promotion challenge next year.

The quartet of clubs have all come forward in the race for the ex-QPR striker as Ralph Hasenhuttl lets him leave St Mary's after three-and-a-half years on the south coast.

Saints boss Hasenhuttl and Austin have spoken openly about his future since the Austrian's arrival last season.

He guided the club to Premier League survival after changing the style of play at the club - and the forward's game is not suited to the way Saints want to use.

There had been several offers for the forward during the January transfer window, but only on a loan basis.

Saints knocked back the interest from rival top flight teams back then because they were only keen on striking a permanent deal.

Cash bids were lodged from Championship clubs but Austin wanted to stay in the Prem and challenge for a place in Southampton's team in the second half of the season.

Fantasy Premier League BBS League 19/20

samedi 29 juin 2019

Open for business again already!

The early launch caught me off guard, thought I had at least another week to get over what was a pretty awful 18/19, by my standards anyway, finishing about 115,000th.

The BBS League is up and running again - if you were in it last year you will automatically join and for any newcomers please enter the code below.

Code to join this league: flsuv5

Also, if anyone is interested, I've created a Head-to-Head league - I'll probably limit the number of teams to 20 - code below.

Code to join this league: qvz569

Let me know if you missed out joining the H2H league and if enough interest I can always create a 2nd or 3rd one!

Good luck all!

Wilf ... Feel free to buy up your contact then ... You signed a contract and you're a big boy so it means something!
Reports say he wanted out Again last Summer but no bids came in .... Well who knows but football is a business something the players like to remind us all of .... So it's big cash or tough luck.

Right Back for 2019/20 season

jeudi 27 juin 2019

Looking like awb has gone so who would you fill the right back position with for the coming season

Suggestion: George Puscas

Just watching the U21 Euros and Romania are currently 1-2 up against Germany in the semi-finals. Their striker with a famous name has just bagged a brace and almost hit a first half hat-trick. He looks brilliant. Top work ethic, good finisher and a beast in the air. The commentators aren't wrong comparing his style to Shearer.

He's just turned 23 and plays for Palermo. Apparently Sheffield United have put in a bid so he'd be well within our reach.

I'd much rather sign someone like this than another journeyman on astronomical wages.

He's playing on Sky Sports Football now if anyone wants to see him in action.

The South London Press is like Aunty compared to this bin dippers rag!:grrr::veryangry:mad:

AWB - will you wish him well at Man Utd?

It looks ever more likely that Aaron will be joining them as all parties wish for it to happen. Assuming it does happen, personally, I think it's an 'okay' move for him. Not great, not bad, but just 'okay' for his career.

However, I really dislike everything about Man Utd and whilst it's a cracking deal for us in terms of money receiving in, I'm struggling to think I'll wish him well. I won't and never want them to win, so it's not going to change now because Aaron is there. It's rare that I don't wish a player all the best when they leave, especially those that serve their time, gives 100% and especially is a youth product.... but it's Man Utd FFS!!

By wishing him well, you're essentially hoping he performs and as a result, the club do well, and I just can't do that.

Do you wish him well and hope he pushes on?

Lampard to Chelsea

So they have now been given permission to talk to him so you would think this is now going to happen.

2nd year being a manager, had 2 good players given to him by Chelsea and another by Liverpool last season but couldn't get them through the play-offs, Chelsea have just lost their best player, they have a transfer embargo in place....

Good move or not?

Think Man Utd and Chelsea could suffer poor seasons this year the way this summer is shaping up.

Rumour: Simon Mignolet

Better than Hennessey and cheaper than Butland - hope we're not thinking of selling Guaita though.

Funny that Liverpool are looking at McCarthy considering a mistake against them effectively ended his Palace career.

VAR and goal celebrations

Is anyone else worried that VAR is going to kill real goal celebrations? Especially those goals that mean a lot, eg the goals against Brighton in the play-offs, Gayle's equaliser against Liverpool, any late goal to win or draw a game, etc.

With the VAR check after every goal, I think it will just take a goal or two of ours to get chalked off and we will simply see a ball hitting the net as phase 1 of a goal. Phase 2 will be the minute or so after that of checking that it is allowed to stand. Surely this will then destroy any real passionate, emotional, mental celebrations that we have now?

1982-83 Pre-Season in Germany

For three days at the end of July/start of August Palace played three games against clubs in the Hamburg area.

July 30 v Neumunster (4-3), July 31 v SV Lurup (1-3) and Aug 1 v SV Bornson (4-2).

The only other details I have is that a party of nineteen players formed the squad (less Vince Hilaire who was still playing out in the USA).

I have already contacted Tony1947, can anybody else help with further information.

CONCACAF Gold Cup

Watching USA v Trinidad & Tobago game.

Some thoughts:

Why is the USA goalkeeper the captain, when obviously Bradley is (see pre-match huddle)

Pulsic is no Hazard

The commentators have spent more time talking about Jozy Altidore (who is a sub) than the players on the pitch.

Why is the stadium (more than) half empty?

Why are all these tournaments playing "We're the Red & Blue Army" after a team scores?

Not very good versions or "We Love You" from the US crowd.

I'm quite liking the Honduran referee, plus no VAR for this game.

Should there be a national 'code' for genuine help in domestic violence situations?

Just throwing this out there, and this may initially sound a little 'crazy', but - following the recent Boris Johnson situation, resulting in no charges etc, should there be recognised words that a neighbour in trouble can, for want of better word, 'yell' , when they are in genuine need of assistance? E.g. HELP ME! Because at the moment, it sounds to me, a lot of police time is spent at unnecessarily when it could be better spent elsewhere?

So with Boris so far out in front an embarrassing or dark secret is the only thing that can stop him from being Prime Minister it seems.
So what is your best guess and what it might be as nothing seems to stick with Boris?

Paddy Power

I do not bet much, but do have the occasional flutter on a sporting event to make it more interesting - i.e. if I don't really care who wins otherwise.

I had an account with Paddy Power, but for some reason I can not access it anymore unless I upload a picture of my passport WTF.

I am not going to be doing that! Has anyone else had a similar problem with PP?

Also, I still fancy the odd flutter, who are a good online betting company to use for Sports betting?

Carabao Cup 1st Round drawy to be held in a Morrisons Supermarket

This is not a joke - the League Cup First Round Draw (now known as the Carabao Cup) will take place in Morrisons in Colindale on Thursday 20th June at 7pm.

On the positive its better than last year's hosting of it in Thailand at 4am (just)

The draw will be streamed live on the Carabao Cup Facebook page with regular updates on the EFL Twitter pages.

Palace enter the competition in Round 2 at the end of August.

Presumably this bizarre hosting is all about the energy drink trying to get better positioning in the supermarket aisles!

Netflix parental controls

Anyone else attempted to use these? Am I going something fundamentally wrong (more than possible!)?

Or, how to stop someone on one profile switching to another profile (without content restrictions)?

Under 21 European Championships

I see to have more interest in this than full International football right now. Italy ended up handing out a bit of a beating, perhaps surprisingly to Spain last night in a 3-1 victory. I must say though that the Italy team is very very strong indeed , with quite a few in there who have already played for the full National team. Poland also beat Belgium yesterday 3-2.

Groups:
A:
Italy
Spain
Belgium
Poland

B:
Germany
Denmark
Serbia
Austria

C:
England
France
Romania
Croatia

Happy birthday Maz

Happy Birthday Maz.

One of the most important and prominent posters on here. Contributes intelligently to debates and is so skilled at ruffling feathers and getting under the skin (as he done with me a number of times in the past!!..but I believe no more, but yet to be tested ).

Easy to miss the humour in his posts sometimes.

Anyway Happy birthday Maz and your great contribution on here is summed by the quality and humour of this post;

Brighton apparently had first bid rejected . 22 goals last season for a winger ( admittedly in Belgian league ) . Talk of £17m but had rave reviews , understand Arsenal may be interested . Doubt we would pay that much unless Zaha was to leave .

Notice in the article about next season's memberships, released tomorrow, a snippet about a new way to buy away tickets.

Hopefully it's a minor tweak to the system for members, and not something akin to what Norwich announced recently, which seems grossly unfair to their long-term season ticket holders.

Right to manage problems with other leaseholders

Hi All,

Just looking for some advice having taken over our block which now has RTM.

All seemed to be going well up until today when I received a final demand from the freeholder for their legal fees which amounted to just over 1k - I realise that we are liable for this and have been happy to pay my share as we all agreed.

There are 3 flats in the block and we all agreed to go RTM last year which all seemed to go smoothly. It was mostly handled by another leaseholder who took the lead with solicitors, etc.

The invoice was sent to him last October and he forwarded it to myself and the other leaseholder of the other flat (they both rent their flats out so aren't physically in the block). He suggested we pay the final invoice by each paying just over £300 each to cover our third which I had no hesitation in doing.

In February he forwarded a statement from the freeholder stating that the final costs were just over £700 remaining and to get everything finalised we should pay a little over £200 each to settle that statement and then everything would be settled. I again paid this and having not heard anything thought that would be it.

He recently sold his flat in April and passed all the RTM documentation onto me so that I could set up the bank account, companies house details, etc and get everything going which I have been doing.

However I have now seen that on this latest demand from the freeholder and having exchanged a few emails with their finance team that the only two payments they have received (or at least allocated) for the original legal fees invoice was from me - the payments I made in October and February.

So there is still around £500 remaining on the invoice for their legal fees which they are chasing hard for and I have overpaid my portion of that demand by paying the £200 in February.

I have emailed the leaseholders of the other flats explaining the situation and that the freeholder appears to have only received my payments including the overpayment and am hoping that it is just a mistake on their parts and that their payments may have been misallocated so to provide me with dates/amounts of any payments they have made.

However neither has responded yet and I am now worried that neither has paid anything.

If my worst fears are realised I just wondered what could be my next steps? The guy who sold his flat in April has resigned as a director of the RTM company but the other leaseholder is still listed.

I am in the process of setting up the bank account for the RTM company. Could I in theory invoice them both from the RTM company in order to pay the remaining balance and then pay myself back for my overpayment? I am also thinking I may just have to pay the freeholder this week with them having made a final demand thus would have paid the entire £1k+ balance myself.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Business rates reduction no win no fee

mardi 11 juin 2019

Hi people, as some of you are probably aware I help run a social club on a voluntary basis and as in any business we are always looking at reducing our overheads. We have been approached by an organisation that tries to reduce rates for businesses on a no reduction no fee basis. If they succeed we would have to pay them 45% of any savings. My question is has anyone used an organisation like this with any success or indeed tried themselves to get reductions in their business rates and been successful or not and how difficult did you find it?
I would appreciate any of your experience.

Crystal Palace Ladies FC change their name

They have changed their name from Crystal Palace Ladies, to Crystal Palace. To follow the trend of dropping ‘ladies’ from other woman’s football teams.

Firstly what is wrong with having ‘ladies’ as part of the name, and what does it hope to achieve?
Won’t it get confusing on Teletext if Crystal Palace beat Barcelona 7-1? Every team has a different name such as Crystal Palace U23s.

Im not against it, I just really wonder what the perceived issue is with being called ‘Ladies’

An experienced but ageing squad

In terms of playing experience in the Premier League we were ranked 6th at the start of last season with a total of 2,599 appearances. Worryingly though we were the 4th oldest squad with only Cardiff, who were relegated, and Brighton and Burnley who both struggled.

Ignoring the under 23s the ages of our players by the end of the year (half way through next season) will be:

32: Dann, Guaita, McArthur and Hennesey
30: Kouyate, Tomkins and Ward
29: Benteke, Kelly, PvA and Sakho
28: Luka and Townsend
27: Schlupp and Wilf
26: Wickham
24: Meyer and Sorloth
23: Jairo
22: AWB

Getting a couple of under 23s in the squad will help but we need to be planning ahead for the following season to avoid a major overhaul.

He's not been tested at the very top yet, but he looks like a natural finisher from the most recent video and much more affordable. Him and Maupay with Sorloth back on loan would be an exciting forward line with Bentekkers and Wickham.

Not sure how much dough we're gunna have, but I reckon one of our prize assets will be on his way to strengthen the squad.

Darth Vader / Obi Wan Reimagining Scene

Don't know if anyone has seen this YouTube video yet. This scene is a reworking of the original 'Star Wars; A New Hope' fight sequence between Vader and Obi Wan, ( with the interstitial, original scenes spliced into fit the new, digitized material ) created by a digital production house.

IMHO, the original light saber battle looked a bit limp even back in 1977, ( mainly because of the age of one performer and the hampering of the other in a cumbersome, low-visibility suit, plus the fact the sabers would shatter easily in production, limiting the impact the actors could safely impart ) but has aged even worse since then. So, when I heard about this modern re-imagining, forged from a fusion of CGI and stock digital inserts from various Star Wars movies, including Rogue One, I thought the results would at least be interesting on a technical level. What would the original Star Wars duel be like with modern fight techniques, shot angles, rapid editing, ect?

Instead of being merely 'interested,' I was blown away. There's a couple of errors in the shot flow, IMHO, ( everyone's a director ) but otherwise, I think these sequences are the most kinetic and impactful light saber duels I've seen. There's a lot to be said for how the makers made this light saber duel scene work so well but I'll leave that as something the more nerdy or film-orientated among us might want to discuss. Anyway, just thought any Palace fan, particularly of a certain age, might find this rewarding. Enjoy.

Unfair dismissal due to incorrect handling of redundancy

Long story short:

Our team is going through a restructure that was announced in February. It's part of a larger one within the business.

We were offered the chance of applying for our revised roles - 6 of them available, or taking one with less responsibility for about 10% less money - 6 of them too. It says a lot that out of 14 of us, only 3 decided to stay, all in the lower paid role.

When we handed in our decisions on staying/going on paper, I believe that 9 of us out of 11 added comments to the effect of 'the offered roles are not workable for me due to the new proposed roster, and the inflexible holiday situation it creates.'

Effectively, the new roster was a steaming pile of shit and taking holiday meant always having to get your colleagues to cover your absence. Our feelings on this were made very clear to management during the consultation process throughout March. I was a 'consultation rep' for our team alongside another guy, and we even put in alternative suggestions that were rejected.

That brings us to this week. We had all made our minds up, and were set to leave. Now, we've been advised that the shit roster will not be in place when the new team start next month, but a much better revised one. This should have been given to us originally back when announced but the planning team ****ed up and it was never questioned or double checked at any point.

Management have admitted fault, but there's no apology on emails at all about the situation. We can now re-apply again for the roles if we have changed our minds though :jerkit:

This has not only thrown a lot of people, but the real issue is that there is now only 1 guaranteed lesser role left in place as 2 other people were recruited externally. I contacted the solicitor that was available to us when we going through all this, and his words were: 'What a mess! Effectively if anyone applies and now isn't given a role, they have a very good case for unfair dismissal. If that's a road anyone is looking at going down, I would suggest negotiating in house for extra money before you leave.'

Looking online, it seems that the company are at fault because they quite clearly didn't follow their own procedures that they made clear to us back in February.

Has anyone else ever had something experience of something like this? How much money can I get out of it?! :D

AHEAD OF THIS SUMMER, WE'VE RELEASED A VIDEO AROUND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR IN FOOTBALL

Ahead of this summer’s UEFA Nations League Finals in Portugal, we’ve released a video to highlight the issue of anti-social behaviour across English football.

With a high number of Three Lions fans travelling to support the team in June, the minute-long film portrays extreme examples of unacceptable behaviour but within a formal setting to highlight the embarrassment caused.

And the video ends with a message from Gareth Southgate, calling on those responsible to follow the lead of others and help make the experience of following English football positive for all.

Our head of security, Tony Conniford, will be with the England group in Portugal and is hoping the video will help people take a look at themselves

"I’ve been involved in football now for 26 years in one role or another, with the Police and the FA, and we have gone from the organised violence days to, more recently, a growing number who become involved in this anti-social behaviour,” he said.

"A lot of it is alcohol-fuelled and there almost becomes an acceptance that because you’re at football, anything goes.

"I find that difficult to buy into and people need to have a look at themselves and start to think: ‘If my relatives, wife or children were here with me, would it be an enjoyable experience?’ And the answer is no.

"What this initiative is really doing is focusing on people to really have a look at themselves.

"The theme for me at the moment is that everybody seems very proud of the team and everything that’s going on, and what we are trying to say is that we want to be proud of you supporting us.

"The fans follow us all over the world and I want to say there are a huge number of genuine fans that I meet on a regular basis who go out of their way to follow the national team and really do us proud.

"But unfortunately we have this growing number that thinks it’s acceptable to just go wherever they want and behave in a manner that creates a bad impression and leaves a bad taste with the hosts.

"As a country, I think the whole of it feels that embarrassment. We all feel it, everybody associated with the team feels it."

FA CEO Martin Glenn added: "It’s been a great season for English football and England but we can’t ignore some of the anti-social and embarrassing behaviour that has crept back into the game.

"There are thousands of brilliant supporters wherever our teams go, but there is an increasing problem that must be called out. We all have a responsibility to represent the country in the right way and that is what we are trying to highlight."

2019 New Rule Changes

Since the Nations League thread is asking questions about the new rules coming and/or already here.
  • goal scored directly from the hand/arm (even if accidental) and a player scoring or creating a goal-scoring opportunity after having gained possession/control of the ball from their hand/arm (even if accidental) will no longer be allowed.
  • a player being substituted will have to leave the field of play at the nearest boundary line,
  • the goalkeeper only is required to have one foot on the line at a penalty kick.
  • When there is a ‘wall’ of three or more defenders, the attackers are not allowed within 1m (1 yd) of the wall; an attacker less than 1m (1yd) from the ‘wall’ when the kick is taken will be penalised with an indirect free kick
  • When the defending team takes a free kick in their own penalty area, the ball is in play once the kick is taken; it does not have to leave the penalty area before it can be played
  • If play is stopped inside the penalty area, the ball will be dropped for the goalkeeper
  • If play is stopped outside the penalty area, the ball will be dropped for one player of the team that last touched the ball at the point of the last touch
  • If the ball touches the referee (or another match official) and goes into the goal, team possession changes or a promising attack starts, a dropped ball is awarded
  • With goal kicks: the ball is in play once the kick is taken; it can be played before leaving the penalty area
  • If the referee is about to issue a YC/RC but the non-offending team takes the free kick quickly and creates a goal-scoring opportunity, the referee can delay the YC/RC until the next stoppage if the offending team was not distracted by the referee
  • A team official guilty of misconduct will be shown a YC (caution) or RC (sending-off); if the offender cannot be identified, the senior coach who is in the technical area at the time will receive the YC/RC

Hopes for next season

It's been a quiet summer so far, presumably because there are discussions going on at the top with the Americans rumoured to be keen to exit. Which got me thinking, how could the current squad (no additions or transfers out) do next season? Let's not forget, this season was the most comfortable we've ever had int he premier League, and that was despite Wickham barely playing, Benteke out for 5 months, and Zaha also out for about half a dozen games. With so many injuries to our first choice strikers at the same time it was tough. And obviously it took Meyer time to acclimatise to English football but he actually began to impress me with his workrate towards the end of the season.

Obviously no-one knows how many injuries we will get to key players 2019/20 but if the majority could stay fit, and Meyer turns into the key player some always believed we had signed, could we finish Top 10 next season with the current squad?

Suggestion: Neal Muapay

25 goals for Brentford last year and a player that could make the step up to the Premier League,
Some of his play and finishing is Dougie-esque.
We really need a creative player like this to give us a different option upfront aside from Wickham and Benteke who are both too similar and one dimensional.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Yes, New Game)

lundi 3 juin 2019

So, this seemed interesting enough to start a new thread. Infinity Ward is coming out with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Not Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and not Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The idea is this a soft reboot of COD4 and exploring the characters in COD4 (notably Captain Price) in a new timeline. Some confirmed features:
  • No Season Pass - There will be scheduled post-release content that is free including new maps, events, etc. But there will probably be some sort of microtransations and/or loot boxes. (This is still Activision after all)
  • Cross Platform Capabilities - PS4/Xbox and PC players will be able to play with and against each other. The input device will be used to match up players so M+K players won't be playing against controller players unless they are in a party.
  • New game engine - The Infinity Ward games have been using updated iterations of the same engine since COD2 with Quake III as it's base.

The single player campaign is said to be quite intense with many people that have seen three of the missions saying that it might cause some blowback on Infinity Ward.

There's no zombies mode and no battle royal mode. They have possibly been replaced with a spec-ops mode that is said to be similar to Rainbow Six Siege with different operators and level progression. There is also a rumor that this mode will be free-to-play. I guess that we'll find out in the next few months.

Just done lots of outback walks, well hikes, almost bloody mountains actually all in hot fluid sapping weather over very rocky and uneven terrain and wondered how hard the Camino actually is. My Missus breezed through it, me well I had a bit of trouble with the uneven ground. Found myself on my hands and knees a lot whilst traversing the steep uneven bits.

I'd say we'll be doing this in 2021....

Anyone else done it?

Alistair Campbell

One Million Dead in Iraq
Doctor David Kelly

A disgraced spin-doctor from 4 (four) governments ago. Never even an MP and last actively involved in politics 16 (sixteen) years ago.

Thankfully J Corbyn has finally seen his opportunity to get rid.

But can anyone explain why this **** is still infecting our TV screens?

Women's World Cup 2019

The World Cup begins this Friday evening in Paris with France taking on South Korea.

The English take on Scotland on Sunday night in what I presume will be a big match, while the 2019 World Cup Winners take on Italy in their first match on Sunday arvo in Valenciennes.

Both England and Australia coming off pretty poor losses in their final warm up matches against NZ (lol) and the Netherlands respectively.

Should be a good tournament, there's a few teams who could win it, hoping the Yanks don't win it, and hoping I get to see a France v Australia match as well.

Anyone heading over here for the tournament?

Should he be regarded in the same vein as Bolan, Bowie, Jagger, Moon, Daltrey, and the ILK.

Been listening to a bit of Jethro.... It's aged pretty well really.

Seems to be me he never received the accolades he should have.

I guess he was so odd that he couldn't even be regarded as eccentric.

Truly unique talent. Much troubled but absolutely legendary. Fulfilled an ambition of seeing him live when he played Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown at the RFH in 2007. 'You're Gonna Miss Me'. Certainly will, chap.

Rumour: Andros Townsend

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers will test Crystal Palace’s resolve to keep Andros Townsend.

The winger has had another impressive season at Selhurst Park as Palace finished the Premier League season in 12th place.

And with just two years left to run on his contract, he is seen as a good option for the Foxes as Rodgers gets a first transfer window to start shaping his squad.

Townsend, 27, is valued at around £14million — similar to the figure Palace paid Newcastle to sign him three years ago.

How much would you pay for a champions league final ticket?

The go compare bloke spent £3500 a ticket for him and his son. Then got mugged off and ended up paying even more. It got me thinking how much would I pay to see Palace in either a Europe or Champions league final as either would be simply brilliant. So what would you pay to some profiteering scroat?
